This report provides a snapshot of housing affordability and housing conditions in Polk County, Iowa in 2014. The data in this report are based on a randomized, county-‐‐wide survey that was delivered via mail to 3,697 households in Polk County in 2013 and 2014. We received a total of 531 survey responses, giving us a maximum confidence interval of (±4.27) with 95% confidence.

This report provides an estimate of the existing affordable housing supply in Polk County at this moment in time using the best available secondary data. This paper ultimately used the traditional measurement of housing affordability: households spending no more that 30% of their income on rent and housing-related costs. However, the study did consider using both the Residual Income approach proposed my Michael Stone and the transportation + housing Index development by the Center for Neighborhood Technology.

A collaborative project between the Oregon State University Extension Service, and the green industry and allied professional organizations resulted in an educational seminar series for landscape professionals. In 2003 and 2004, the seminar series consisted of seven 3.5-hour sessions covering a range of horticultural topics and capitalized on expertise of extension personnel and green industry professionals. After the 2004 series, a survey was sent to all participants to determine attendance, overall evaluation, usefulness and applicability of information, participant learning, and behavior change as a result of the seminars. Recently, the government of India embarked on an ambitious project of designing and deploying the Integrated National Agricultural Resources Information System (INARIS) data warehouse for the agricultural sector. The system’s purpose is to support macro level planning. This paper presents some of the challenges faced in designing the data warehouse, specifically dimensional and deployment challenges of the warehouse. We also present some early user evaluations of the warehouse. Governmental data warehouse implementations are rare, especially at the national level. The role of rural demand-responsive transit is changing, and with that change is coming an increasing need for technology. As long as rural transit was limited to a type of social service transportation for a specific set of clients who primarily traveled in groups to common meal sites, work centers for the disabled, or clinics in larger communities, a preset calendar augmented by notes on a yellow legal pad was sufficient to develop schedules.
