Local Stress-Strain Behavior And Corrosion Of Alternative Reinforcing Bars, Hektor Cullufi, Altin Bidaj, Irakli Premti
UBT International Conference
Premature deterioration of concrete buildings and infrastructure due to corrosion of reinforcement is a severe challenge, both technically and economically. It has been estimated that Western Europe spends 5 billion Euros yearly for repair of corroding concrete infrastructures. Repair-work on the public transportation infrastructure are causing significant inconveniences and delays for both the industry and the general public, and are now recognized as a substantial cost for the society. Set of experiments were conducted in order to produce a description among bars of different types to assist engineers to better comprehend the relative corrosion resistance of those bars. The bars …

3 Mont - System For Energy Saving In Building, Driton R. Kryeziu, Bojan Bratuž, Alojz Nastran, Binak Beqaj
UBT International Conference
One of the main goals of the European Union is to reduce energy consumption and to increase energy efficiency on buildings. More than 40 % of prime energy in EU is consumed in buildings. Because of that EU has introduced legislation to ensure that they consume less energy. The key part of this legislation is energy performance of buildings directive, EPBD. EPBD requires from all EU countries to enhance their building regulations and to introduce energy certification schemes for buildings. Just through windows and doors, which are part of the exterior wall of a building, we can lose more than …

UBT International Conference
The public buildings such as high schools, kindergartens, nurseries, universities, dormitories and buildings in their service used by the general public are valuable assets, normally built with substantial investment in a long period of time. These assets are not always managed with the care that they require. As a result, depreciation and destruction in time reducing the ability of these buildings to fulfil their functions by reducing the time of use, durability. General usage costs will also be higher because of the buildings require costly renovations or replacements of materials frequently than might be necessary if they are maintained regularly. …

After Earthquake Damage And Behavior Of Buildings In Gjilan Region, Bajram Shefkiu, Burbuge Shatri, Vlora Shatri
UBT International Conference
Various types of structures were assessed after an earthquake that struck Gjilan on April 24th 2002 with a purpose of identifying seismic deficiencies that might impact the general stability of the buildings located within the downtown City. The overall seismic performance goal identified by our team for these buildings is life safety. To achieve this goal, partial collapse of structure and/or of any cladding element that could result in a life safety concern should be prevented during a major earthquake. The largest issue identified is the unreinforced or inadequately reinforced brick masonry construction and those combined with skeletal, particularly buildings …
Managing And Minimizing Waste Generation During Construction: Approaches And Responsible, Krenare Shkodra
Managing And Minimizing Waste Generation During Construction: Approaches And Responsible, Krenare Shkodra
UBT International Conference
Construction Waste is a well known and a serious threat to the environment therefore there are a number of existing approaches toward its management. It (construction waste) is considered recyclable up to 80-90%, which is quite a promising factor especially giving the fact that recycling is only one of the steps in the construction waste management process along with reduce, reuse, and dispose. While taking this into consideration there is still doubt as to ‗Why is Construction Waste still an issue to the environment? Does it get the required and deserved priority? If yes, by who and how?‘ While analyzing …

Focus of my research is to be found on several issues concerning architectural opinions and design in Japan, and for better understanding of its development the attention will be set from the old toward the current architectural endeavors. The created urban mess of Kosovo, beside it’s over built and overcrowded area lack s the most valuable quality of a living settlement- its greenery. The suffocation of the living area can be reduced by producing; inventing; reusing more greenery, more gardens with its calming and meditative effect. Designing For An Aging Population, Allison Shives
Designing For An Aging Population, Allison Shives
Undergraduate Research Conference
Aging starts at birth and continues throughout life. As people age, they need to continue to live a happy life. A designer’s job is to design a facility that will encourage an independent lifestyle while providing the help and community involvement aging requires. The design solution should meet the aging population’s desire to age in place. An assisted living facility allows older adults to live independently while being surrounded by a support group and events that promote an active lifestyle which is conducive to physical and mental wellbeing.
