Prepared by the Fall 2014 Issues and Interpretations of Public History class. This interpretive plan identifies and defines important visitor experiences of the Wells-Brown House located in Stone Mountain, Georgia and recommends actions and policies to facilitate those experiences. Interpretive planning addresses visitor needs, organization and site resources available and identifies management goals to determine the most effective approach to communicating the message to the target audience. The interpretive plan establishes goals, identifies key interpretive themes to be addressed through historical content, outlines resources and existing conditions, and provides recommendations for future growth.

This Historic Structure Report contains historical background for the Mable House, the physical and architectural descriptions of the landscape and structures, conditions assessment of the building exterior, interior, mechanical systems and the grounds, and treatment recommendations for those sections. The purpose of this report is to provide a current assessment of the condition of the property, recommendations for needed repairs and options for future use.

Prepared by the Spring 2014 Case Studies in Historic Preservation Class. This resource nominates the Locust Grove Historic District to establish formal recognition of the historic center of the city in its development as a “railroad strip” community in Henry County. The downtown historic district was designated in 2010, and the City of Locust Grove is a recent Certified Local Government in Georgia, providing a triple-pronged effort in utilizing Federal Incentive Tax Credits for historic preservation in Locust Grove.

These Design Guidelines explain and interpret general design criteria in the local preservation ordinance for the McDonough, serves as a tool to guide preliminary design decisions, preserves historic character of the area, protects and stabilizes property values, makes suggestions for design appropriateness and provides neighborhood continuity, stability and predictability in assessing future change. The purpose of this report is to provide recommendations that aid in the preservation of the unique architectural and historic character of the city.
