Tropical Strategy Of Modern Architecture In Cambodia For The Design Of A Contemporary Art Space In Phnom Penh, Pisith Ty
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
In the past decades, Cambodia has experienced a boom in building construction. However, many of those buildings do not take sustainable approach into account. They are built without concern of the tropical climate which results into a high level of energy consumption from air-conditioning system. Some none-commercial buildings, such as cultural and educational facilities, could not be operated because of lack of the fund for electricity. For a better understanding of architectural design in the tropical environment of the context, the research focuses on the works of Vann Molyvann, the father of architects in Cambodia, a state architect in 1960s, …
Effects Of Environmental Stressors And Design On Patient Outcomes In Icu Patients, Lauren Lea Mcnary, Jenea Ruttino, Kylie Thanasiu
Effects Of Environmental Stressors And Design On Patient Outcomes In Icu Patients, Lauren Lea Mcnary, Jenea Ruttino, Kylie Thanasiu
Williams Honors College, Honors Research Projects
Over four million patients are admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) every year. The ICU, along with many health care settings, is generally regarded as a stress inducing environment, which may contribute to negative patient outcomes. Yet, there has been little progress in developing environments that are optimal to patient healing and using evidence-based design for ICUs. Aspects of environment studied that can be manipulated to increase positive patient outcomes are aroma, light, noise, private rooms, windows, and layout of the room. The purpose of this systematic review is to answer the PICO question, in hospitalized critically ill adults, …

Read-In Arts, An Liu
Theses and Dissertations
As interior designers, we strive to design everything for our clients, from complex environments to the joinery of a chair. We rarely consider inviting our clients or the users to join us in finishing the space.
Read-In workshop is not a school, but a kind of home, a home belonging to children, which provides the possibilities for children to play, to learn, to occupy, to personalize, and to share. An emotional space that will not limit the user, but keep inspiring them. It helps children notice, think, and grow.
Half of the interior space will be a fixed design, designed …

Voices Of Cully: A Case Study Of The Living Cully Weatherization And Home Repair Project 2.0, Lucy J.T. Cultrera
Cal Poly Humboldt theses and projects
The Cully neighborhood is situated in the Northeast quadrant of Portland, Oregon. It is 2.75 square mile plot of land and home to roughly 13,000 people. In addition to being one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Portland, it is the most densely populated, with the smallest amount of parkland per capita. Over the last two decades, home value has increased 203% in Cully, compared to a 90% citywide increase. Amidst these development trends are stories of incredible resilience, resistance and activism from the affected community. My project is a case study of one anti-displacement initiative, which was developed and …
