The Effects Of Free And Forced Choice With A Time Gradient And Monetary Incentive In A Serial Learning Task, Ernest Joseph Lucier Jr.

This experiment was designed to determine the effects of free and forced choice within time gradients of five and eight seconds using monetary incentive on a serial learning task. A series of nonsense symbols were successively presented to thirty-six subjects whose task was to learn the serial with the least number of exposures.

It was hypothesized that subjects viewing film-mediated aggressive models would perform more aggressive behaviors in the test situation, than either of the other two groups, despite the low similarity factor. Results failed to confirm this hypothesis. It was found that boys were more aggressive than girls across all treatment levels.

A sampling of teachers from two school districts was interviewed to determine the amount of use and factors affecting utilization of ITV programs in the classroom.

The findings revealed a high percentage of teachers using ITV programs in their classes. Physical surroundings had the greatest influence on TV usage. Unavailability of TV sets and poor reception of the TV signal hamper teachers usage of ITV.

The teachers who used ITV incorporated the elements of pre-program preparation of the student: or what they were about to view and follow-up materials after the program.

This was a study of television interests of older citizens using respondents from two geographical areas--Cache County and Salt Lake City--using random sampling, rest home, and active senior citizens.

The purpose of this study was to assist in determining program preferences for a series of television shows beamed for the aged. This involved educational television and particularly KUSU Channel 12.

The top ten program preferences, in rank order, were:

Asian history is increasingly recognized by experts as a necessary part of a high school student's world history experience. Asia is important for them to study because of its great intrinsic value and because of Asia's relationship with the United States in the future. To date, however, in Utah there are no separate Asian history courses being taught and few teachers include Asia as an important part of the world history course.

Although no one knows how alcohol affects an animal's perception or why it does not appear to affect his retention of time, this study, analyzing the IRTs that were between 10 and 40 seconds, supports the conclusions of previous studies and indicates that the effect of alcohol is much the same for pigeons as it is for rats.
