Healthcare Key Performance Indicators; A Dha Study In Perception And Importance By Clinical And Non-Clinical Healthcare Professionals At A Large Healthcare System, Jennifer Burchill
MUSC Theses and Dissertations
Healthcare systems in the United States are unique structures where compassion for the care of others meets the science of medicine. It is a business, but it is a business with passionate professionals who care about the health of its customers, or patients. While most businesses have one structured financial system, health care contains finance for both the business and the patient.
KPIs or Key Performance Indicators, reported by finance are usually created for revenue driven initiatives with little contact and communication with the clinical teams. KPIs are a prominent driver utilized by health systems and reimbursement agencies to measure …
The Ethical Lawyer: Beyond The Rules, Nick Badgerow
The Ethical Lawyer: Beyond The Rules, Nick Badgerow
St. Mary's Journal on Legal Malpractice & Ethics
Does being a lawyer mean more than the mere pursuit of a client’s cause and resulting (hoped for) financial success and professional standing, while avoiding discipline? This article invites a consideration of what it means to be a true “professional” in the practice of law. First, the article explores the definition of the term “professional,” and proceeds to examine the obligations undertaken by lawyers (a) in their oath of admission, and (b) in codes of professional conduct. However, the author posits, should not the true professional aspire to more than the mere compliance with these minimum standards? In answer, the …

Students’ Views Of Taught Professional Competencies: Investigating The Impact Of Previous Work Experience, David Lowe, Keith Willey, Emanuela Tilley
Research Papers
The ability of Engineering graduates to function as successful professionals depends not only on technical disciplinary knowledge but also on a wide range of professional competencies. Students' reactions to the teaching and assessment of these competencies are often negative. An ongoing study by the authors has been exploring the nature of these reactions and in particular, the various factors that contribute to students’ views on the teaching of professional competencies. A preliminary factor analysis showed that students’ level of professional experience was a key factor in shaping variations in their views. In this paper, we explore this issue in more …

Floodplain And In-Channel Sedimentation In The Bedrock Congaree River, Sc, Mahsa Ahmadpoor
Floodplain And In-Channel Sedimentation In The Bedrock Congaree River, Sc, Mahsa Ahmadpoor
Theses and Dissertations
The Congaree River planform is characterized by an abrupt increase in channel sinuosity in the downstream direction. Such a change is not typical of alluvial meandering rivers but has been observed in mixed bedrock-alluvial rivers. This motivated the first study of this dissertation, specifically designed to determine if the Congaree River is indeed a mixed bedrock-alluvial river in its low sinuosity (upstream) reach. To test this hypothesis, sonar-based measurements of channel bed and sublayer elevation were performed from Columbia to the Congaree River-Wateree River confluence. The sublayer is here defined as the first surface visible in the sonar measurements underneath …

Transforming Lessons And Those Who Write Them: Professional Development For Educational Content Writers To Integrate Technology Into Lessons Using The Tpack Framework, Rachael Patricia Santopietro
Theses and Dissertations
Efforts to improve technology integration for K–12 teaching and learning focus on professional development for teachers. This research study, however, implemented a professional development course in technology integration for educational content writers at a publisher in the Southeastern United States. This research is strategic because most writers surveyed do not integrate technology to align with pedagogy and content, because developing 21st century learning is important, and because educational resources should meet national standards for integrating technology. This action research involved designing and implementing a professional development course that instructed content writers (n = 6) in technology integration using the TPACK …

Career Counseling: How To Help School Counselors Analyze And Strengthen Their Program, Kevin Scott Squire
Culminating Experience Projects
Abstract
The American School Counseling Association lays out three main domains of focus for school counselors: academic, social-emotional, and career developments. This project explores research related to the theory and background of career counseling and the current state of career counseling services being offered and shows data that supports my claim that career counseling services are often the smallest percentage of time dedication of the three domains. The implementation of the project will include helping school counselors analyze their current career counseling services offered to students, time spent creating and providing these services, and providing resources to improve their career …

WWU Honors College Senior Projects
This thought paper is the personal exploration of the author in seeking to determine the answer to the question of care to be provided to patients as a future healthcare professional. Utilizing various books written by authorities in bioethics as well as job shadowing experience for perspective, the author distilled down what they believed to be some basic guidelines and considerations to be taken into account when providing patient care. In summary, what aspects of the patient's health the healthcare professional can provide care for is determined by boundaries and conditions the healthcare professional must work within. Within those considerations, …

Prognostic Validity Of Professional Soccer Status By Anthropometrics And Repeated Jump Testing, Samuel R. Vilmeau, Vassilios Panoutsakopoulos, Iraklis Kollias, Zacharias Papadakis
International Journal of Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings
ABSTRACT
Soccer is characterized by intermittent high-intensity actions interspersed with lower intensity ones. Soccer clubs invest time and money to early identify and nurture potential professional players in the premise to maximize the return of their investment. Multidimensional talent identification models are proposed as best practice but are difficult to be implemented in the field. Explosive lower limbs strength assessment by vertical jumping (VJ) is used as a single predictor for future player status. Alternative to VJ, the repeated vertical jump test (RVJ) has been proposed, but its prognostic ability is still unexplored. PURPOSE: To analyze the prognostic validity …
