Examined the effects of room temperature, clothing, and task complexity on task performance and satisfaction. 120 18-22 yr old male college students worked on either a mathematical problem-solving task or a collating task. Room temperature was maintained at either 65 or 78[PHI] during the task session. Ss were requested to wear either a suit (or sport coat), long sleeve shirt, and tie; or a short-sleeve shirt with no tie. Ss were administered the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire. Results show that Ss wearing appropriate clothing for the temperature conditions showed higher levels of performance and satisfaction with the working condition than did …

Resource Allocation In The Government Schools Of Australia And New Zealand: A Summary Of The Reports Of The Staffing And Resources Study, John Ainley, John P Keeves, Phil Mckenzie, Andrew Sturman

Issues of resource allocation to schools extend beyond the question of class size. Patterns of resource allocation are likely to be influenced by three continuing debates. One involves balancing equity in school staffing with encouraging diversity in school programs. Another involves the encouragement of devolution of authority to schools against a tradition of centralized political responsibility. A third centres on the debate about priorities among the many purposes of schooling. Schools now fill an expanded role which matches widening community expectations. Support for that role has implications for the level and type of resources allocated to schools. This book is …

Motion Of Viscous Liquid In Rotating Cylinder, Chicheng Wu

A computer model for the withdrawl and buildup of the fluid from the pool bounded on the horizontal, rotating, cylindrical surface has been developed. For a incompressible Newtonian fluid, the model is based upon the modified SOLA-SURF algorithm to solve the finite-difference form of Navier-Stokes equations on primitive variables. A hybird of centered and partial donor cell differencings is applied to the momentum convective flux. In each time cycle, the cell velocity is adjusted by the pressure corrector and iterates to satisfy the equation of continuity. The free surface position is approximated by a surface height function derived from kinematic …
