Digital image watermarking, as an extension of traditional steganography, refers to the process of hiding certain messages into cover images. The transport image, called marked-image or stego-image, conveys the hidden messages while appears visibly similar to the cover-image. Therefore, image watermarking enables various applications such as copyright protection and covert communication. In a watermarking scheme, fidelity, capacity and robustness are considered as crucial factors, where fidelity measures the similarity between the cover- and marked-images, capacity measures the maximum amount of watermark that can be embedded, and robustness concerns the watermark extraction under attacks on the marked-image. The fabrication of flexible nickel-zinc batteries using a facile mixing of electroactive components for electrode preparation is presented. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is found to be an effective binder by reducing concentration polarization, providing chemical/physical stability and enhancing flexibility. The zinc electrode containing PTFE maintains its original porous morphology even after hundreds of cycles while polymers such as PEO show morphology change. Each component, as well as the assembled flexible cells show desired flexibility and stability even under bending conditions.

This marginalization contributes to myriad psychological consequences such as depression, suicidality, anxiety, and substance abuse. This thesis provides the results of a comprehensive analysis of the metal artifact assemblage from Magunkaquog, a mid-17th- to early-18th-century “Praying Indian” community located in present-day Ashland, Massachusetts. Magunkaquog was the seventh of fourteen “Praying Indian” settlements Puritan missionary John Eliot helped in gathering between the years of 1651-1674 as part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony’s attempts to convert local Native American populations to Christianity. Responding to the all-male American Anti-Slavery Society and inspired by the expansion of women’s benevolent organizations, the Boston Female Anti-Slavery Society (BFAS) was founded in 1833. At the outset, the members defined themselves as pious women dedicated to immediate emancipation, while making no overtures to challenging their place in society. BFAS grew quickly in influence and membership, and helped organize the first national women’s anti-slavery convention in 1837. The convention brought together female abolitionists from all over the United States, some of whom espoused more radical views on women’s rights. This dissertation focuses on a study of reading-into-writing strategies employed by students in two sections of first-year-composition (FYC) that were paired with a support course as part of an accelerated learning program (ALP) at a community college. Each FYC course was comprised of 11 students whom the college had deemed college-ready without the ALP course, and 11 students who were deemed at remedial levels in reading and / or writing and who were subsequently required to enroll in the ALP course. The Notch signaling pathway is a one of few fundamentally conserved signal transduction pathways critical for metazoan cellular development. Upon ligand activation, the Notch intracellular domain (NICD) translocates to the nucleus and forms a transcription complex with C-binding promoter factor-1 (RBPJ-k/CBF-1/Suppressor of Hairless) and Mastermind-like protein (MAM). The DNA-binding factor, RBPJ-k, binds to a response element containing a consensus sequence of RTGRGAR (where R is G or A). The Mathematical Ideas Analysis hypothesizes that abstract mathematical reasoning is unconsciously organized and integrated with sensory-motor experience. Basic research testing movement, language, and perception during math problem solving supports this hypothesis. Applied research primarily measures students’ performance on math tests after they engage in analogous sensory-motor tasks, but findings show mixed results. A bandgap voltage reference (BGR) was also designed in conjunction with the LDO to simulate realistic environments. The schematic was designed with Cadence Virtuoso Schematic XL, using the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) 65-nm CMOS library, used for Internet of Things (IoT) System on Chip (SoC) applications. The proposed capacitor-less LDO with BGR provided an average temperature coefficient (TC) of 13.34 ppm/℃ within the range of -40 to 125 ℃. It compares perceived emotional support, general life stress, and media affordance-based stress from two participant samples - one that reported using the Facebook desktop site most frequently to reach out for emotional support, and one that reported using the mobile application.

The media affordance measure asked participants if perceiving a media affordance was more likely to increase or decrease their stress.
