The general purpose of this study was to evaluate the operation and problems of credit unions in the United States. More specifically, the study attempted to evaluate the contributions of credit unions, to reveal their major problems, to evaluate their competitive position among financial institutions, and to evaluate the influence of current and proposed credit union legislation. To accomplish the stated purposes, the credit union industry was surveyed at various levels. A questionnaire was sent to all credit union leagues in the United States. Evaluation Of The Filter Paper Method For Estimating Soil Water Potential, Samir Al-Khafaf

The filter paper method for measuring soil water potential was evaluated. The method was calibrated using salt solutions (-1.4 bars to -22.4 bars), sample chamber psychrometer (-1 to -50 bars), pressure plate (-0.1 to -15 bars) and soil column at equilibrium (0 to -0.2 bars). It was found that the absolute temperature had little effect on the predicted soil water potential, but a temperature variation had a large effect. It was found that the temperature fluctuation must be small. The predicted water potential was influenced by the type of contact of the soil with the filter paper. It is suggested …

This study was an attempt to determine through a survey of opinions to what extent the objectives, methods and procedures were effectively being accomplished in the professional preparation of student teachers in physical education at Utah State University.

A questionnaire was developed and administered to student teachers who were currently completing their student teaching experience, and mailed to graduates who had completed their preparation program between 1966 and 1971.

The areas surveyed, the pre-student teaching preparation, the assistance given by the university supervisor and the assistance rendered by the cooperating teacher were for the most part found to be adequate …

The purpose of this thesis was to evaluate the farm machinery distribution system in Utah using market structure analysis. Questionnaires to farm machinery firms as well as to farmers were used to gather data on market structure and conduct. The traditional market structure theory was used as an analytical framework. Examining the efficiency of factor markets revealed possible avenues for savings to farmers.

The purpose of this thesis is to make an evaluation of the competitive position of the Utah livestock industry by use of a linear programming model (MPS-360). This is on the basis of the least cost means of production to meet the quantity demanded of the livestock products. This is accomplished by dividing the United States into six regions where Utah is one of these regions to enable careful consideration of Utah's agricultural enterprises.

The agricultural products used in the analysis are beef, pork, broilers, turkeys, eggs and milk.
