Enhanced productivity and workpiece surface quality after electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a concern of many researchers. In this study, the effect of powder concentrations on material removal rate (MRR), surface roughness (SR) and topography surface in powder mixed EDM (PMEDM) was investigated. The experimental studies were conducted keeping the various parameters like current, voltage and pulse time constant while using varying concentrations of titanium powder. Experimental research methods were employed to study performance characteristics in the machining of H13 steel using PMEDM with a graphite electrode. The results revealed that the concentration of titanium powder has a powerful influence …

Synthesis And Characterization Of Nano-Copper-Powder Based Magnetorheological Fluids For Brake, Innovative Research Publications Irp India, Chiranjit Sarkar, Harish Hirani

Innovative Research Publications IRP India

Magnetorheological (MR) fluids can be used as brake friction materials [1, 2]. During braking, kinetic energy of machines gets converted into heat and shear thinning of MR fluid due to increase in temperature occurs which in turn reduces the braking effect. To lessen the effect of heat generation on MR fluids due to heat, synthesis of magnetorheological fluid using nano-copper-powder has been proposed. To explore the feasibility of incorporating copper powder, four carbonyl iron (CI) powder based MR fluids (without any copper powder, with 0.25% weight, 0.5% weight and 0.75% weight copper powder) have been synthesized. Yield stress of all …

Ultrasonic Wedges For Testing Of Turbine Blade Roots, Innovative Research Publications Irp India, Ibe, G. A Jan 2015

Ultrasonic Wedges For Testing Of Turbine Blade Roots, Innovative Research Publications Irp India, Ibe, G. A

Innovative Research Publications IRP India

The integrity of turbine blade roots and attachments is fundamental to the power infrastructure. Therefore, it requires the adoption of appropriate wedges with an effective ultrasonic testing system. Turbine components have complicated geometry which ordinarily impedes proper coupling to the wedge. However, different configurations of the ultrasonic wedge have been developed to obviate this constraint. In this paper, the various types of ultrasonic wedge are reviewed vis-a-vis their conformability to the turbine blade root geometry. Also, the possible application of cylindrical multiple flat-faced wedges is discussed.

Stress Analysis On Behaviour Of Rails, Innovative Research Publications Irp India, M.Kameswara Reddy, Dr.K.V.S. Srinadh,, T.V.Ravi Teja, Rafiuzzama Shaik

Innovative Research Publications IRP India

It is axiomatic to say that the rails used nowadays have been subjected to heavier axle loads and high operating speeds. This may lead to derailment and eventually loss of life. In this paper Transient analysis (Dynamic analysis) for rail by using ANSYS 12.1 Software is discussed. In this analysis deflection and stress are compared with wheel diameter, load, speed and range of distribution of contact load. Result is analyzed by the effect of variation of these parameters.

Optimization Of Economic Production Quantity And Profits Under Markovian Demand, Innovative Research Publications Irp India, Kizito Paul Mubiru

Innovative Research Publications IRP India

In most manufacturing industries; demand uncertainty affects effective planning and control of production levels that maximize profits. In this paper, a new mathematical model is developed to optimize economic production quantity (EPQ) of a single-item, finite horizon, periodic review inventory problem with Markovian demand. In this model, sales price and inventory replenishment periods are uniformly fixed over the planning horizon. Adopting a Markov decision process approach, the states of a Markov chain represent possible states of demand for the inventory item. The production cost, holding cost, shortage cost and sales price are combined with demand and inventory positions to generate …

Self-Regulated Solar Lighting System, Innovative Research Publications Irp India, Mr. Ramesh C R, Prof.Lyla B Das

Innovative Research Publications IRP India

Electricity is a prime concern in today’s world. On observing the path through which we travel daily we can see that a lot of electricity is wasted by glowing sodium wafer lamps and even the traditional tube lights on the electric posts at unnecessary intervals. The self regulating solar system enters into action and exits from functioning depending upon the output from the Day/Night sensing unit. Once the unit indicates arrival of night then the system turns ON, the controlling unit thereafter controls the illumination level of the lamp depending upon the outputs of interruption detector, temperature sensor & real …

Oil spill cleanup in Arctic is usually done by in-situ burning. The fuel oil will have a very low initial temperature as well as cold boundaries. This study focuses on the variation of the mass burning rate of the fuel with varying initial temperatures of the fuel, which is kept in a metal bowl surrounded by ice. Kerosene is chosen as the fuel. The bowl diameters have been varied from 30 mm to around 50 mm. The fuel bowl is kept surrounded in an ice bath and is ignited after it attains a particular temperature. The initial temperature of the …

A Constrained Genetic Algorithm Based On Constraint Handling With Ks Function And Grouping Penalty, Innovative Research Publications Irp India, Jiang Zhansi, Jiang Yulong, Ma Liquan, Feng Jianguo

Innovative Research Publications IRP India

In order to overcome the limitation when using traditional genetic algorithm in solving constrained optimization problems, this paper presents a new method of constrain handling to solve the constrained optimization problems. Firstly, the method makes full use of the condensed characteristics of the KS function to transform multi-constrained optimization problem into a single constraint optimization problem. And then a group penalty method is adopted by genetic algorithm. Aggregate constraint reduces the solution scale effectively and improves the efficiency of searching for global optimization solution. The method of penalty in grouping is used to overcome the difficulty of penalty coefficient selection …

Haze is generally phenomenon that an atmospheric stuff that greatly degrades the visibility of outdoor scenes. This phenomenon occurs due to the atmosphere constituent parts that absorb and scatter the light. We use the spread map of image in terms of intensity of image except a continuous region which has no edge information. The scheme performs a per-pixel manipulation, which is direct to implement, and then apply the Directed filter to improve the image quality. The simulation results demonstrate the comparative results and even better than the more complex state-of-the-art techniques, having the advantage of being appropriate for real-time applications

— Wireless sensor network is an emerging technology which has an immense scope of research and development. It has the potential of quick capturing, processing and transferring data with high resolution to the base station. WSN consists of multiple sensor nodes, these nodes have low storage capability and limited battery life which dies due to the computation and transmission of data. It is not feasible to replace these batteries due to their placement in isolated areas. In this paper we will emphasize on maximizing energy efficiency and improvement of life span of network. Clustering is the technique which balances the …
