The objective of this study was to investigate techniques to accelerate filtration and dewatering of Acid Mine Drainage precipitate using geobags augmented with Capillary Chanel Fibers and internal lateral drainage structures. Laboratory and field research investigated increasing the total solids retention of Acid Mine Drainage precipitate in geobag storage systems. Current geobag design and field application of treated AMD precipitate exhibits limited filtration and drainage efficiency due to the high moisture content (2500%) polymer amended AMD flocculated solids. Methods: School-based survey data from the Young Mountaineer Health Study (YMHS) was used to create generalized estimating equations models predicting anxiety and depression among early adolescents. Time motion studies were conducted at five mid-Atlantic sites that spanned various operations in West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. The harvest systems included integrated harvests where chips were produced in the forest, roundwood systems where only roundwood was produced, and a centralized chipping system. The study collected overall productivity and machine utilization data at the various harvesting operations. The cost per green ton of woody biomass ranged from $18.46 to $39.8 resulting in an average of $30.33 among the five systems. Purpose: To evaluate a structured transition program, Preparing Emerging Adults with Knowledge and Skills (PEAKS), for pediatric patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in an outpatient pediatric endocrinology center.

Design and Methods: Program evaluation was completed following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Framework for Program Evaluation in Public Health, focusing on implementation adherence, glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1C), and provider satisfaction for the first three visits of the PEAKS program. Satisfaction was assessed using the Got Transition Sample Health Care Transition Feedback Survey for Clinicians. Implementation adherence and HbA1C were gathered using retrospective chart review.

This project aimed to address significant gaps in literature around addiction-related attitudes by identifying early childhood educators’ addiction-related attitudes and how these attitudes associate with their relationships with students who come from homes with addiction. The first chapter is entitled “The Corporate Governance Consequences of Small Shareholdings: Evidence from Sovereign Wealth Fund Cross-Border Investments.” This chapter shows that firms’ corporate governance decrease following SWF cross-border investments. This impact holds for small SWF cross-border equity investments only, and is stronger for firms that are weakly governed and for those located in jurisdictions with weak shareholder protection. This paper builds an empirically tractable framework for the analysis of marginal costs in markup estimates from the production approach and examines how markups differ by the scope of variable inputs. Using plant-product matched data from Japan, we show that changes in markups can capture price and marginal cost dynamics, irrespective of the scope of variable inputs. Markups, however, are negatively and conditionally correlated with real output when only the most flexible intermediate inputs are selected as variable inputs. We find that the properties of markups depend on how variable inputs are selected and how underlying marginal costs are specified.

This study evaluated the performance of a novel, ferric iron-dosed anaerobic bioreactor to recover two separate nutrient products from concentrated wastewaters -- phosphorus as vivianite (Fe₃(PO₄)₂×8H₂O) and an ammonium-containing effluent with low organics. A bench-scale upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor fed with a synthetic wastewater (458.0 mg/L total organic carbon, 282.7 mg/L ammonium, and 84.4 mg/L phosphate) was dosed with a ferric chloride solution at an org.
