This paper proposes a design of a complete system to identify weak grip strength that is caused by multiple factors like ageing, diseases, or accidents. This paper presents a grip measurement system that comprises of force sensing resistor and flex sensor to evaluate the condition of the hand. The system is tested by gripping a pencil and a cylindrical object using the glove, to determine the condition of the hand. Force sensitive resistor (FSR) evaluates the force applied by the different parts of the palm on the object being grasped. Flex sensor evaluates the bending of the fingers and thumb. …

This study reexamines the Theory of Reasoned Action in a culture with higher uncertainty avoidance and power distance and analyzes how homophily and the ability (expertise) of word of mouth (WOM) sources impacts on the consumer attitudes and purchase decisions with respect to such high-risk credence products as college selection. By using an interpretivist approach to model building, the study comprises 41 interviews, finding that WOM made a significant impact on attitudes but not on purchase behaviors. Ethical issues with offshore manufacturing plants in the ready-made garment industry is a regular affair, particularly for factories located in lesser developed nations. Despite efforts by non-government agencies around the globe pressurizing both governments and multinational corporations to adopt ethical practices, disastrous accidents and loss of lives continue to haunt the industry. User generated content is a fundamental aspect of an online brand community (OBC), therefore facilitating the continuance of knowledge sharing and social interaction is imperative to the success of the community. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of perceived identifiability on the factors that encourage ongoing participation in OBCs. This article examines how homophily and ability (expertise) of eWOM source can impact on the consumers purchase decisions with moderating role of product type (credence product). The study used credence product with regards to selection of university by students. Using an interpretivist approach, the study examined 41 interviews and found that friends are good source of WOM but family plays a dominant role in decision making when it comes to college selection. This paper presents the investigation of path loss variation for subject-specific on-body radio propagation channels, considering the effect of metallic spectacles and loop like metallic accessories. Adding metallic items may affect the operability of Body Centric Wireless Communications (BCWC). Measurements were carried out in an RF-shielded room lined with microwave absorbing sheets for strategically placed bodyworn antennas covering the upper front torso and the lower limbs. This study extends prior literature on social networking sites, e.g., Facebook, to an under researched context, Arab countries. In particular, this research compares the Arab and non-Arab youth in the UAE in terms of motivations, intensity of Facebook usage and their social capital development. With a survey study involving 123 students in the UAE, the results suggest that the need for socialization is a driving force for intensity of Facebook usage among the youth in the UAE, implying that the driving forces of Facebook usage are regional specific. Gender composition of VCs shapes the members' communication style and content, and has a potential in influencing the anticipated benefits from VC participation. Extending prior research on VC participation and group composition, this study examines the moderating effect of gender composition in influencing the linkage between two important identity-based determinants, i.e., identification and identity confirmation, and VC participation.
