Service Delivery Consolidation, Governance And The Enhancement Of Local Government Capacity: Creating A Service Consolidation Model, Charles Richard Abernathy
Service Delivery Consolidation, Governance And The Enhancement Of Local Government Capacity: Creating A Service Consolidation Model, Charles Richard Abernathy
Doctoral Dissertations
This research project addresses the issue of service consolidation by units of local government. Service consolidation between units of local government is a frequent occurrence and references the partial merger of local government departments. The research defines the topic and suggests a distinct placement in the academic literature. Service consolidation is a similar but different topic from local government cooperation, collaboration, functional consolidation or comprehensive merger. To assist, a survey of county managers in North Carolina is conducted to determine the frequency of service merger activity, the attitudes of manager‟s regarding the practice and to determine the types of services …
The Relationship Between The Susceptibility Of Eating Disorders, Self-Esteem, And Body Image In Female Collegiate Student-Athletes, Stephanie Elizabeth Dawkins
The Relationship Between The Susceptibility Of Eating Disorders, Self-Esteem, And Body Image In Female Collegiate Student-Athletes, Stephanie Elizabeth Dawkins
Masters Theses
Research indicates athletes participating in competitive sports may be at a higher risk for developing an eating disorder than non-athletes (Costin, 2007). A variety of factors may lead to an eating disorder. This study looked at the relationship between the susceptibility to eating disorders, self-esteem, and body image and Division I, Division II, and Division III female collegiate student-athletes, and it considers whether competition level was a factor for developing an eating disorder. In this study, Division I, Division II, and Division III female athletes were asked to complete a questionnaire that included three subscales of the EDI-2, the Rosenberg …

Development Of An Information System Of Forecasting And Inventory Management For Spare Parts, Lourdes Valeria Ludwig
Development Of An Information System Of Forecasting And Inventory Management For Spare Parts, Lourdes Valeria Ludwig
Masters Theses
At any manufacturing company across the world, management is making decisions about ideal stock levels in order to ensure that future demand will be satisfied. Those decisions are at the heart of a company's inventory policy. Because a successful inventory policy is vital for customer satisfaction, which leads to repeat business and sustained profits, it is important that such a policy is based on useful and valid information. When that stock is spare parts, the decisions become more difficult. This research addresses this problem through the development of a methodology for improved decisions relative to spare-parts inventory management. This methodology …

Pilot Constructed Treatment Wetland And Natural Media Filter, Clint Swires
Pilot Constructed Treatment Wetland And Natural Media Filter, Clint Swires
Masters Theses
A Natural Media Filter (NMF) and Constructed Treatment Wetland (CTW) pilot study was performed on an industrial landfill leachate site. The pilot study was designed to test if a NMF and CTW could be a low cost replacement option for the current wastewater treatment system. The main contaminates of concern for the leachate were poly-chlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and ammonia.
The pilot unit consisted of two systems, a subsurface flow CTW and an up-flow NMF that utilize mushroom compost as a media. The two units were run in parallel and were both supplied with untreated leachate. The CTW was operated at …
Can Female Recreational Athletes Alter Their Jump Landing Mechanism On Verbal Instruction?, Abhaya Srivatsan
Can Female Recreational Athletes Alter Their Jump Landing Mechanism On Verbal Instruction?, Abhaya Srivatsan
Masters Theses
Background: Female athletes may be at increased risk of anterior cruciate ligament injury due to their mechanics when landing from a jump. In particular, high peak ground reaction force and frontal plane knee biomechanics may be altered. Hypothesis/Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine if female recreational athletes can change their landing performance after a countermovement jump following a single session of verbal instruction. Study Design: Crossover Study Methods: Twelve female recreational athletes were recruited. Participants performed countermovement jumps under each of four conditions: control, knees over toes, equal weight distribution and soft landing. Three-dimensional lower extremity biomechanical …
Effects Of Water Content And Salinity On Soil Electrical Properties At 50 Mhz: Structural And Textural Interactions, Tairone Paiva Leão
Effects Of Water Content And Salinity On Soil Electrical Properties At 50 Mhz: Structural And Textural Interactions, Tairone Paiva Leão
Doctoral Dissertations
The use of dielectric methods for estimating water content and electrical conductivity in saturated and partially saturated porous media is one of the major innovations in soil physics over the past decades. One example of a dielectric sensor is the 50 MHz Hydra Probe. The Hydra Probe is an impedance device that operates at a fixed frequency measuring both components of the complex soil dielectric permittivity response. The general objectives of this research were to: i. improve the understanding of the relationship between soil physical and electrical properties measured at 50 MHz using the Hydra Probe sensor, ii. evaluate the …
