This project analyzed potential impacts on the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) in Japan (2010 and 2015), which is dealing with both a declining population and an ageing population in parallel. Results indicate that income per person has the largest impact on TFR, and it is highly considered when making fertility decisions. Results also show that government policies are largely ineffective in impacting TFR. Results were obtained through two panel regressions and two Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regressions, in which TFR was the dependent variable.

Accountability for American public education systems, which spend more than $750 billion annually as of 2019, has been a topic of longstanding controversy. The test-based accountability movement has led to conditions that penalize schools that educate traditionally underserved students (low socioeconomic status, English language learners and students with disabilities are examined in this paper). Further, leaders of these schools lack evidence-based guidance to help make high-impact improvements, as schools serving high proportions of these students are rarely cited as exemplars of high-quality education. A sample of 938 consumers residing in the United States responded, by invitation, to an online survey on anti-consumption attitudes and behaviors. Drawing from one aspect of that survey, the primary focus of this study is sustainability. The relationship between four of the measured sustainability-related variables and five commonly examined demographics was evaluated using a t-test, ANOVA, and the Scheffé Method of Multiple Comparisons. Although the researchers extensively investigate white-water rafting as an adventure tourism type, little is known about the influence of participants’ demographic characteristics on the formation of rafting satisfaction. This study examines the influences of gender, marital status, age, and previous experience on overall satisfaction with the rafting experience by using data obtained from 319 German tourists, who participated in white-water rafting on holiday. Research results revealed that the respondents’ ages and previous experiences significantly contribute to their overall satisfactions with rafting experience. The demographic behavior of northern bobwhite (Colinus virginianus; hereafter, bobwhite) populations at high densities could provide important insights into why bobwhite populations fluctuate. Therefore, we documented breeding season demographics of bobwhites to understand how prebreeding density influenced reproductive effort and postbreeding density on an intensively managed property in Leon County, Florida, USA, 2002–2006. We estimated prebreeding bobwhite density each April using multi-observer strip-transects and postbreeding densities each November using covey call grid surveys. We radio-tagged 217 bobwhites in March and located bobwhites at least 5 days/week, 15 April–30 September to determine vital rates. Prebreeding density ranged from 1.5–8.6 …

Anti-neutrophilic cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) is a rare and life-threatening autoimmune disease with severe complications. Central nervous system (CNS) involvement is thought to be rare, however, the prevalence of neuropsychiatric complications have been reported in 30-60% of AAV cases. Framing cultural and demographic change as abrupt or continuous is theorized to respectively worsen and reduce intergroup hostility (e.g., anti-immigrant policy endorsement, prejudice, discrimination). Psychological anchors and propellors are theorized to respectively exacerbate and lessen negative reactions toward cultural and demographic change. Dermatological disease has historically been dependent on photography as a primary modality for education. Previously, photographs used for medical education were representative of the regional patient populations at that time; however, they have not proportionally reflected the rapidly changing demographics in the United States. Education on the diagnosis of cutaneous disease has, therefore, primarily relied on photographs of lighter skin tones. There is a need for a better representation of darker skin tones in dermatologic medical education. INTRODUCTION: To examine the relationship between demographics, socioeconomic status (SES), and patient outcomes after rotator cuff repair (RCR).

METHODS: A retrospective review identified 7564 patients who underwent RCR between 2017 and 2021. Patients were stratified into two groups, urban(U) or suburban(S), based on which campus they underwent surgery. Demographic information, medical comorbidities, SES and other preoperative risk factors were compared. Pre- and postoperative functional outcomes at each location were analyzed. Categorical variables were reported as counts and percentages while continuous variables were reported as means and standard deviations.
