An Exploratory Study On The Relationships Among Electorate's Voting Behavior, Party Identification, Personal Values, And Demographic Characteristics, Kuan-Shun Chiu

This study was proposed to examine if there existed significant differences in voters' party identification and voting behavior due to gender, race, age, income, education and personal values.

The sample was chosen from eligible voters in Florida. Of the 1500 questionnaires managed, 161 were identified as useable. The sample was representative of the results of 2000 presidential election in Florida with respect to voters' gender, race, income, and voting choice by party identification. Statistical techniques used were ANOVAs, Chi-square statistics, factor analysis, and logistic regression.

Census 2000 includes changes in the way people were counted. The most significant change is to allow persons to select more than one race, creating a new multiracial category but meaning people may not be included in the race with which they most identify. There was, however, no way to choose more than one ethnicity, one must choose either Latino or not. Throughout this profile, numbers reflect Latinos of all races, or non-Latinos by race, with persons of two or more races counted separately. This fact sheet summarizes information about legal immigration flows to the New England Region during the 1990s employing Immigration and Naturalization Service data. Although the annual number of legal permanent residents (e.g., green card holders) from Latin America and the Caribbean fell during the decade, as a percent of all legal immigrants who settled in New England their representation rose. A two-year mark recapture study was conducted on the desert pocket mouse, Chaetodipus penicillatus sobrinus on a relic population within the city of Las Vegas, NV. Demographic information and movement patterns were documented and microhabitat selection analyzed. Chaetodipus. p. sobrinus activity correlated with ambient temperatures, during colder months (Ta = 15°C) C. p. sobrinus became dormant. Sex ratio was 1:1 except during the early spring in which males were favored. Reproduction occurred between March and September each year. Male C. p. sobrinus has significantly larger home range estimates compared to females. The maximum dispersal distance was 133 meters and sex-biased …
