David Whitmer, A Witness To The Divine Authenticity Of The Book Of Mormon, Ebbie L.V. Richardson
Theses and Dissertations
This thesis, DAVID WHITMER, A WITNESS TO THE DIVINE AUTHENTICITY OF THE BOOK OF MORMON, is an attempt to give an unbiased history of the life and religious activities of a man who spent fifty years apart from the Church he was so much an instrument in establishing. His testimony has been a considerable factor in promoting its growth and success. The title of this work was suggested by a text Mr. Whitmer wrote in the year previous to his demise; the subject, by A. William Lund, assistant Latter-day Saint Church Historian.
Particular emphasis has been placed upon that phase …

The Utah County Labor Movement, J. Kenneth Davies

The Election Of 1912 And The Progressive Party In North Dakota, Richard M. Norman
The Election Of 1912 And The Progressive Party In North Dakota, Richard M. Norman
Theses and Dissertations
The election of 1912 was one of the most colorful of all the elections held in America. This contest was more than just an election to elect a President of the United States; it was a struggle between certain elements -- progressive and conservative -- within the political parties themselves. While appreciating the nationwide contest between the parties, I have attempted to show how the national political picture influenced the political life in North Dakota. I chose this subject because I wished to find now the National Progressive Party, established by Theodore Roosevelt, affected North Dakota, the Rough Rider's adopted …
Mormon Settlement Of Snake River Fork Country, 1883-1893, Norman Earl Ricks
Mormon Settlement Of Snake River Fork Country, 1883-1893, Norman Earl Ricks
Theses and Dissertations
The most interesting and important place in the world is where a man lives. His home becomes the finest place on earth regardless of its merits in relation to other habitats. After years of residence the history of the country takes on reality and significance and a long acquaintance reveals elements of romance and adventure that enhance ones love of his surroundings. This is one of the reasons for this thesis topic. During a young impressionable life the stories of Indians, trappers, pioneers, rustlers and polygamist, have been constantly a part of the environment of the author. Long trips in …

History Of Drama In Ogden, Beth Browning
History Of Drama In Ogden, Beth Browning
Theses and Dissertations
Many cultural histories have been written of Utah, but not one of Weber County. The purpose of this thesis is to develop the history of drama in Weber County. Particular interest is given to the stage and its evolution. Also, I include the outstanding leaders of this art, because they are the builders of this history. The hypothesis is that the present-day drama owes much to our pioneers of Weber County. This thesis is written in commemoration of these pioneers for our Centennial Year, 1947.

A Historical Study Of The Exploration Of Utah Valley And The Story Of Fort Utah, Ray C. Colton
A Historical Study Of The Exploration Of Utah Valley And The Story Of Fort Utah, Ray C. Colton
Theses and Dissertations
The exploration of Utah Valley and the history of Fort Utah is the story of the conquest and colonization of the American frontier. Discovered in the days of Western expansion, the Valley was identified with the principal factors in the development of the Intermountain West. It heard the chant of the gray robed Franciscan priests, became a favorite haunt of the trail blazing fur trapper and trader, was the site of the ancient rendezvous of the Indian, saw the gold seekers trudge wearily on to California, and with the founding of Fort Utah served as the springboard of Southern Utah …

In writing this thesis I have emphasized the qualities of vigor, ability and foresight that Churchill showed to such a statesmanlike degree in the last war, also the special technical training in ships, tanks, planes and their use that he gained. I have endeavored to point out in what ways these have qualified him for his role as Prime Minister of England in the present war. I have brought out his connections with American life through his family, his books and lectures, and his work as munitions minister. An Analysis Of The Social Philosophies Of Brigham Young And John Calvin: With Special Reference To Their Similarities As They Were Expressed Through The Utah And Geneva Theocracies, Wesley P. Lloyd
Theses and Dissertations
Brigham Young was an American product of the nineteenth century. John Calvin was a European product of the sixteenth century. Each of these men left definite impressions upon world history. Of the two, Calvin is more widely understood and better known, but we should remember that the element of time was in his favor.
An examination of the lives of these two men indicates definite parallels, and their teachings show many views in common. Both were spiritual as well as temporal leaders, and each succeeded in gaining the interest of the world in his particular time. Just as the attention …
