Experimental And Computational Investigation Of Plume Surface Interactions In Vacuum Microgravity, Wesley Chambers
Experimental And Computational Investigation Of Plume Surface Interactions In Vacuum Microgravity, Wesley Chambers
Electronic Theses and Dissertations, 2020-
Plume surface interactions (PSI) are caused by rocket exhaust impinging on planetary surfaces. PSI-induced environmental changes pose hazards to spacecraft and astronauts; thus, it is crucial to understand the gas-particle dynamics of these systems. We have conducted novel experimental and computational work to study PSI effects in relevant vacuum microgravity environments. To study flow effects and regolith instability we developed a computational model that describes the gas flow through a porous medium based on Darcy's Law. This flow depends on regolith properties, and the resulting subsurface pressure distribution is used to estimate ejecta mass. We find flow behaviors and the …

The objective of this study is threefold: to examine parents' perceptions of engaging in SDM with their physicians about their treatment options; to engage in the SDM process when their children's mental health conditions were the subject of SDM; and to assess the comfort level of parents engaging in SDM, based upon …
Shared Responsibility Of Highly Effective Co-Teachers In Middle School Mathematics Classrooms, Ann Hembrook
Shared Responsibility Of Highly Effective Co-Teachers In Middle School Mathematics Classrooms, Ann Hembrook
Electronic Theses and Dissertations, 2020-
Currently, most students with disabilities (SWDs) receive a majority of their education in the general education classroom (U.S. Department of Education, 2019). This inclusive practice reflects educational and accountability requirements described in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (2004) and the Every Student Succeeds Act (2015). To address these requirements, schools seek service delivery models that support SWDs and close achievement gaps (Murawski & Goodwin, 2014). In this study, the researcher investigated the lived experiences of highly effective middle school teachers using co-teaching as a service delivery model to support SWDs in the general education classroom. The researcher used …
Pervasive Spectrum Sharing For Improved Wireless Experience, Mostafizur Rahman
Pervasive Spectrum Sharing For Improved Wireless Experience, Mostafizur Rahman
Electronic Theses and Dissertations, 2020-
Spectrum sharing among cellular users has been a promising approach to attain better efficiency in the use of the limited spectral bands. The existing dynamic spectrum access techniques include sharing of the licensed spectrum bands by allowing other 'secondary' users to use the bands if the licensee 'primary' user is idle. This primary-secondary spectrum sharing is limited in terms of design space, and may not be sufficient to meet the ever-increasing demand of connectivity and high signal quality to improve the end-users' wireless experience. The next step to increase spectrum efficiency is to design markets where sharing takes place pervasively …

Social Support And Mental Health Outcomes Of Lgb People Of Color, Jessica Ruiz
Electronic Theses and Dissertations, 2020-
Lesbian, gay, and bisexual people of color (LGB PoC) continue to remain an understudied population. Research supports that LGB PoC may experience greater negative health consequences compared to LGB racial/ethnic majority populations. Social support, including family and peer support, is often associated with positive health outcomes for sexual minorities of all backgrounds. The present study sought to evaluate differences between types of social support, including what occurs when one is faced with significant loss of support (i.e., family support). Comparisons between groups sought to determine whether alternative systems of support (i.e., peer social support) buffers against the negative impact of …
Estimation And Clustering In Network And Indirect Data, Ramchandra Rimal
Estimation And Clustering In Network And Indirect Data, Ramchandra Rimal
Electronic Theses and Dissertations, 2020-
The first part of the dissertation studies a density deconvolution problem with small Berkson errors. In this setting, the data is not available directly but rather in the form of convolution and one needs to estimate the convolution of the unknown density with Berkson errors. While it is known that the Berkson errors improve the precision of the reconstruction, it does not necessarily happen when Berkson errors are small. Furthermore, the choice of bandwidth in density estimation has been an open problem so far. In this dissertation, we provide an in-depth study of the choice of the bandwidth which leads …
Cerium Oxide Nanoparticles And Beneficial Bacteria: Two Novel Treatments For Eradicating Bacteria Associated With Prosthetic Infection?, Etta Conteh
