Graduate nurse anesthesia school is extremely challenging and includes long hours of study and clinical performance. A multitude of stressors can impair the ability of students to think, learn and be successful in school. A literature review was conducted to study the threats to anesthesia students’ wellness. This review yielded evidence based knowledge that guided a systems change project to implement a wellness curriculum. The curriculum included three components. In 2011, food insecurity affected one in six Americans. In order to achieve food security, many families turn to food pantries with options less healthy than traditional supermarkets. A survey with 32 multiple choice and short-answer questions was distributed at a food pantry in the Twin Cities area to measure food pantry usage and demographics. One hundred forty-six respondents participated in the survey. Seventy-five percent were female, with a mean age of 51, and almost half of the respondents reported having children. With the obesity epidemic on the rise an effort must be initiated to discover why dietary choices are made. Exercise cancellation in individuals who frequently exercise may cause a decrease in calories consumed. However, exercise cancellation in sedentary individuals may have opposite effect, increasing calories consumed. PURPOSE: This study was performed to determine whether the cancellation of regularly scheduled exercise affects an individual’s daily food consumption, particularly in individuals who exercise regularly compared to those who are sedentary. METHODS: Female college students (n=10) scheduled two morning exercise sessions of 30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise. One session randomly determined by …
