Ferns, Robert H. Mohlenbrock Oct 1999

Ferns, Robert H. Mohlenbrock

Illustrated Flora of Illinois

Perhaps no other group of plants attracts more interest among both professional and amateur botanists than ferns. As early as 1846, when one of the first lists of Illinois plants was published, sixteen species of ferns were already known in the state. The longtime interest of a great many people makes the distribution of ferns better known than that of any other group of plants in Illinois.

This detailed account of ferns and fern-allies was first published in 1967 as the first volume in the series The Illustrated Flora of Illinois. Eminent botanist Robert H. Mohlenbrock has now revised Ferns …

Performance Of Distributed Cfar Test Under Various Clutter Amplitudes, Chandrakanth H. Gowda, R. Viswanathan Oct 1999

Performance Of Distributed Cfar Test Under Various Clutter Amplitudes, Chandrakanth H. Gowda, R. Viswanathan

Articles

We evaluate the performances of several distributed constant false-alarm rate (CFAR) tests operating in different background clutter conditions. The analysis considers the detection of Rayleigh target in various clutters with the possibility of differing clutter power levels in the test cells of distributed radars. Numerical results studied for a two-radar system show how the false-alarm rate of the maximum order statistic (MOS) test changes with differences in the clutter power levels of the test cells. The analysis for the detection of Rayleigh target in Rayleigh clutter indicates that, with the power levels of differing test cells, the OR fusion rule …

Cold Tolerance And Fatty Acid Composition Of Striped Bass, White Bass, And Their Hybrids, Anita M. Kelly, Christopher C. Kohler Oct 1999

Cold Tolerance And Fatty Acid Composition Of Striped Bass, White Bass, And Their Hybrids, Anita M. Kelly, Christopher C. Kohler

Publications

Cold tolerance of striped bass Morone saxatilis, white bass M. chrysops, palmetto bass (female striped bass × male white bass), and sunshine bass (female white bass × male striped bass) were compared under controlled laboratory conditions. Two groups of each taxon were acclimated at 20°C in a recirculating-water system housed in an environmental chamber and were fed either a natural or prepared diet for 84 d. The fatty acid composition of the natural diet was 13% more unsaturated than that of the prepared diet. Fish fed the natural diet subsequently had unsaturated:saturated fatty acid ratios 10–25% higher than …
