The research focuses on 48 federally funded / awarded grants from the United States Department of Justice, Community Oriented Police Services Office and the Department of Homeland Security. A measurement instrument was developed to extract data from the grants for the purpose of determining if similarities existed among the awarded grants. The grants chosen came from jurisdictions of all types, sizes and demographics and represent a cross-section of American law enforcement. As a part of doctoral research, a study was made to identify the importance and support of having theses and dissertations in electronic form, through a survey of Indian academics and Librarians. Based on the study and special requirements of India, a model is suggested, which can be used by universities. File formats, software, workflow, infrastructure, and required support are discussed. A prototype ETD System using D-Space software is described. This article presents an interview with Merrily E. Taylor, the university librarian of Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. When asked on the similarities and difference of directing a small college library compared to a large one, Taylor states that it's the two libraries role to the institutional setting which makes them similar while it's their primary mission which makes them different. Taylor believes that her responsibility as a university librarian remains the same whether she is working for a small or large college library, it is the approach of carrying out the responsibilities which spells the difference.

Recent changes in the world of information present unique challenges and opportunities for the dissemination of evangelical literature. This report suggests six ways that the Association of Christian Librarians can support evangelical education and scholarship in a context that is increasingly global, Web-based, and free from the confines of the traditional college campus. Implementing a combination of these strategies could make evangelical literature much more accessible via the Web, the dominant delivery platform of our day. However, choices among available strategies must take account of competition within the marketplace.

The paper examines empirically the relationship between economic growth and human capital development using Nigeria data. Microeconomics variables such as Growth of real gross domestic products (RGDPG), capital expenditure (CE) on education. recurrent expenditure on education (RE), real gross capital formation (RGCF) was used to proxy physical formation, enrolment into primary (PRYE), post-primary (PPE) and tertiary (TERE) educational institutional were used to proxy human capital development. It found that investment in human capital, through the availability of infrastructure requirements in the education sector accelerates economics growth.

Housing policy as one of the tools for eradicating poverty remains a critical arena for debate, especially in light of the dire situation of impoverished inner cities and growing inequalities between communities in the U.S. Policies aimed towards ameliorating the negative effects of these inequalities on impecunious residents include deconcentrating poverty through the dispersion of public housing residents into more affluent neighborhoods. This exploratory study tested relationships between information technology sophistication and clinical and financial outcomes of acute care hospitals. The hospital sample was Texas hospitals (N =175) with available data for a profile of their information technology infrastructure, combined with demographic and operations data from public use files for the annual 2002 reporting period. Three measures of information technology sophistication were used: functional, technical, and integration of information, with an additional composite index measure. Clinical outcomes were measured using selected Agency of Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Patient Safety Indicators and in-hospital mortality. This research examines education and police experience as they relate to police officers' perceptions on the use of in-car mobile video system. A sample of police officers from area police departments in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex was studied using a self-administered survey, which consisted of 27 items. The research suggests that there are indeed differences in the perceptions of in-car mobile video system as it relates to police experience.

This qualitative study explores how and to what extent the family responsibilities of single-mother students affect their college experience. In-depth face-to-face interviews were conducted with twelve single-mother students who were enrolled at The University of Texas at Arlington during the spring 2006 semester. Participants consisted of five white women, six black women, and one Mexican American woman, all of whom were upperclassman, varied in academic majors, and ranging from twenty to fifty-eight years of age. Universal Service and telephone penetration among underserved residential consumer groups are useful cases for studying the rate of change for adopting public policies. Telephone subscribership and its related socio-economic elements are examined using the Telecommunications Act of 1996 (Pub. L. 104-104, 110 Stat. 56) and the Communications Act of 1934 (47 U.S.C.
