Social Support, Stress, And Young Unwed Mothers' Ability To Cope Effectively With Parenthood, Christina Henninger

Seventy-six single mothers between the ages of 15 and 22 were studied to determine the relationship between stress and social support and to determine their service needs. Of these 76 individuals, 19 were chosen to participate in a Home Visit Program (a self-help support program), while 21 were chosen to act as a control group for the evaluation of the program. It was hypothesized that for the total sample an inverse relationship between stress and support would be found (as support increases, stress decreases). A Behavioral Intervention To Reduce Presurgical Anxiety, Alison J. Wheaton

A multiple baseline study was conducted across five hysterectomy patients between the ages of 30-36. Three patients received a treatment intervention consisting of general and sensory information, muscle relaxation, a cognitive coping technique, and a pre-anesthetic interview. Two yoked, placebo control patients watched a 20-min video· tape about surgery, practiced recovery exercises, and made up stories from TAT cards. Self-report measures taken were the Hospital Stress Rating Scale, a recovery inventory, and postsurgical pain ratings. Physiological measures consisted of pulse, respiration, blood pressure, skin temperature, and blood lactates. Recovery variables were taken on amount of pain medication taken, number ·of …

An experiment was conducted to investigate three different treatment strategies in the rehabilitation of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) patients. Fifteen CABG patients were randomly assigned to one of three training groups: an outpatient cardiac rehabilitation exercise group (which met three times per week for three months); a second group which participated in weekly stress management training for seven weeks in addition to the cardiac rehabilitation exercise sessions; and a third group which participated in a weekly discussion on social support in addition to the exercise sessions. Duration discrimination of the last of a series of four clicks was investigated. Examination of psychophysical functions from eight subjects revealed evidence for a Weber’s law model relating discrimination to base interclick interval. Also, the point of subjective equality was seen to change reliably as a function of base rate.

The purpose of this investigation is to determine significant differences in clinical competency ratings of ADN and BSN graduates, who are within the initial three to twelve months after registered nurse licensure and who are working full-time in Colorado hospitals.;The sample population consisted of 90 new ADN and 143 BSN graduates in 35 Colorado hospitals.;It was hypothesized that the retrospective clinical performance evaluations by the head nurses, using the Slater Nursing Competencies Rating Scale, would show significant differences between clinical competency ratings of the sample of beginning ADN and beginning BSN graduates within three to twelve months after licensure as …

การวิเคราะห์ทางเคมีว่า ไมยราพณ์หนามเป็นพืชที่มีโภชนะต่าง ๆ ค่อนข้างสูง โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในแง่ของโปรตีนและพลังงาน การศึกษาการย่อยได้และปริมาณอาหาร ที่สัตว์กินได้โดยใช้แกะเป็นสัตว์ ทดลองปรากฏว่าไมยราพณ์หนามมีการย่อยได้สูงพอควร คือมีสัมประสิทธิการย่อยได้ของโปรตีนประมาณ 68% และของอินทรีย์วัตถุประมาณ 55% สัตว์สามารถกินไมยราพณ์สดได้ในปริมาณสูงคือประมาณ 2-3 กก. ต่อตัวต่อวันหรือ เมื่อคิด เป็นน้ำหนักแห้งเท่ากับประมาณ 2% น้ำหนักตัวต่อวัน และสามารถกินเป็นอาหารเดี่ยวได้ โดยไม่แสดงอาการผิดปกติแต่อย่างใด

การทดสอบหาเชื้อ Pasteurella multocida ไทป์ดี ซึ่งแยกได้จากสัตว์ หลายชนิด ที่ป่วยเป็นโรคตาย ในเขตที่เกิดการระบาดรวม 37 ราย ทําโดยวิธีตกตะกอนด้วยอคริฟลาวีน พบว่าเชื้อ Pasteurella multocida ของสุกร 8 สเตรน เป็นไทป์ดี 4 สเตรน เชื้อ Pasteurella multocida ของสัตว์อื่น ๆ ยังไม่พบไทป์ดี ผลการทดสอบความไวของเชื้อแต่ละสเตรนต่อสารต้านจุลชีพ ในหลอดทดลองปรากฏว่า ส่วนมากแพ้ยาปฏิชีวนะ และยาซัลฟาเมทอกซาโซลร่วมกับไตรเมทโทปริม

Induction Of Parturition In Sows Using Prostaglandin Analogue (Cloprostenol), P. Chantaraprateep, P. Prateep, C. Lohachit, P. Bodhipaksha

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

A prostaglandin analogue (Cloprostenol, ICI-80, 996) was used in a programme for induction of week day farrowing in a 250 sow breeding herd. It was shown that parturtion could be induced in animals receiving 1 mcg/kg or over of the agent i.m. or i.v. Sows and gilts reaching day 111 of gestation by each Sunday were given 175 mcg i.m. (n 23) and i.v. (n = 15). Treated animals of both groups commenced farrowing in 23.54 + 5.46 VS. 25.18 + 3.09 hours (P > 0.05) and farrowing period in 2.47 + 1.27 VS. 2.66 + 1.09 (P > 0.05) respectively. The …

โรคขาดไวตามิน A พบเกิดขึ้นตามธรรมชาติในไก่พื้นเมืองอายุ 9 - 11 เดือน ไก่ป่วยแสดงอาการซึม เบื่ออาหาร ขนหยอง มีน้ำตาและน้ำมูกไหล หงอนและ เหนียงแห้ง ไม่มีแรง และมีอัตราการตายสูง (71%) เวลาผ่าซากพบเม็ดตุ่มเนื้อตายเล็ก ๆ สีเหลืองคล้ายเนยแข็งมีเส้นผ่าศูนย์กลาง 1 - 3 มม. กระจายทั่วไปบนลิ้น เพดานปาก คอหอย กล่องเสียง หลอดอาหาร และกระเพาะพัก จุลพยาธิวิทยาพบ metaplasia เกิดขึ้นที่ epithelia และ submucous glands ของหลอดอาหารและหลอดลม ในจำนวน ไก่ที่ตาย 15 ตัว มี 7 ตัวที่เป็นโรคบิดที่ลำไส้เล็ก และ 3 ตัว ติดพยาธิตัวแบนอย่างรุนแรง

In this article the author examines the rationale, in legal and policy terms, of the inextricable association traditionally formed between certification and incompetency. He argues that forming categories of people in which the law automatically dispenses with the requirement of seeking consent is fraught with conceptual inconsistencies and practical difficulties. He further argues that clinical judgments made without the consent of the patient should be made subject to an independent statutory review. Such a review procedure could also be adopted for treatments which are unusually hazardous, irreversible or not fully established even if the doctor purports to proceed with the …

Both religion and the law must seriously consider artificial insemination so that dogma and laws are formed to incorporate the process. Science has brought the procedure to a society unequipped to deal with the religious and legal implications of birth through artificial insemination in any of its forms.
