The University of Louisville, like most other universities, played an important role in World War II in the training of Service Men for active duty in the Navy, and now in the post-war era, finds herself taxed to the limit to provide educational facilities for her veteran students. To admit large numbers of students, whether veteran or non veteran, without some sort of screening process to identify those who obviously could not do college work would be wasteful of manpower and public moneys. In general the problem of this thesis is an analysis of achievement performance made by children in Kansas elementary schools through the use of standardized tests prescribed by the State Department of Education. Intramural sports appeared in schools long before interscholastic athletics. Students within schools formed clubs and competed against one another. This student intramural competition increased until in 1915 Michigan and Ohio State each inaugurated a department of intramural athletics under the direction of one man. In 1915 John Wilce wrote the first treatise on intramural sports. In the army camps of World War I this type of intramural activity received a tremendous boost. In 1925 the high schools throughout the country began organizing intramural departments.

This Region is made up of urban, suburban, and rural districts. The State Consultation Service is the guidance division of the Virginia State Department of Education. The Service was started in May 1939 as the Richmond Consultation Service, an experiment to assist individuals to find the right job through vocational guidance. At that time is was a cooperative effort of the Virginia State Board of Education, the National Youth Administration, and the Virginia State Employment Service. The Department of Education and the National Youth Administration provided funds for salaries and supplies, while the Employment Service furnished office space.

This paper is limited to a few brief but important statements on the early development of the folk dance. As for its origins, it is quite obscure. From the studies of its beginnings, it can be freely said that it began with primitive man who used his body to express his feelings. Ruth Radir writes; "Man, we believe, has always danced.
