Prior research has shown a correlation between public stigma and emergency responders' perceptions of mental health patients while providing care. However, research examining public stigma and emergency responders' perceptions of mental health patients is limited in rural areas. The purpose of this study was to explore possible relationships between the dependent variable, public stigma, and the independent variables: social distance, blameworthiness, and fear of unpredictable behavior. Link's modified labeling theory was the theoretical framework for this study. PURPOSE: This DNP project is relevant to nurses of the psychiatric and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting, as high stress environments may produce higher rates of compassion fatigue and burnout. Investigation of these areas may help illuminate unnecessary healthcare costs that are associated with these phenomena. This DNP project is important to the University of Kentucky’s healthcare system, its patients, and nurses. Increased absenteeism and increased medication errors are positively associated with the prevalence of compassion fatigue and burnout in nurses. การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงพรรณนา ณ จุดเวลาใดเวลาหนึ่ง เพื่อศึกษาความชุกของความตั้งใจไม่มีบุตร และความเกี่ยวข้องกับบุคลิกภาพและการเผชิญปัญหา ในผู้ที่มาจดทะเบียนสมรสใหม่ ณ สำนักงานเขตบางรัก กรุงเทพมหานคร เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากผู้มาจดทะเบียนสมรสเพศชายและหญิงจำนวน 380 คน โดยใช้แบบสอบถามแบบตอบด้วยตนเอง ซึ่งประกอบด้วยแบบสอบถามข้อมูลพื้นฐานทั่วไป แบบทดสอบบุคลิกภาพ MPI (The Maudsley Personality Inventory) และแบบวัดการเผชิญปัญหา ใช้ Univariate analysis (ได้แก่ T-Test และ Chi-Square) เพื่อทดสอบปัจจัยที่มีความสัมพันธ์กับความตั้งใจไม่มีบุตร และใช้ Multivariate Analysis เพื่อหาปัจจัยทำนายของความตั้งใจไม่มีบุตรในผู้มาจดทะเบียนสมรสกลุ่มนี้ ผลการศึกษาพบว่าความชุกของความตั้งใจไม่มีบุตรในผู้มาจดทะเบียนสมรสมีอัตราร้อยละ 13.7 เมื่อทดสอบความสัมพันธ์พบว่าบุคลิกภาพ มิติที่ 1 ด้านพฤติกรรม (Scale E – extraversion) มีความสัมพันธ์กับความตั้งใจไม่มีบุตรอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ โดยกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่มีบุคลิกภาพแบบเก็บตัว (Introvert) มีความตั้งใจไม่มีบุตรสูงกว่ากลุ่มตัวอย่างที่มีลักษณะบุคลิกภาพแบบแสดงตัว (Extravert) นอกจากนี้ยังพบว่าการใช้กลวิธีการเผชิญปัญหาแบบมุ่งจัดการปัญหา (1.8 - การแสวงหาการเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของกลุ่ม) มีความสัมพันธ์เชิงลบกับความตั้งใจไม่มีบุตรอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ และการใช้กลวิธีการเผชิญปัญหาแบบหลีกหนี การใช้กลวิธีการเผชิญปัญหาแบบหลีกหนี (3.4 - การเก็บความรู้สึกไว้คนเดียว) และการใช้กลวิธีการเผชิญปัญหาแบบหลีกหนี (3.2 - การไม่แสดงออกทางพฤติกรรม) มีความสัมพันธ์เชิงบวกกับความตั้งใจไม่มีบุตรในผู้มาจดทะเบียนสมรสอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ

Background: Adults 50 and older make up approximately 50% of persons living with HIV. Multiple co-morbidities are common among this group, including chronic pain and substance abuse, yet little is known about the daily factors that either enhance or inhibit these experiences or behaviors. This study explored daily drivers of substance use, pain, and relief from pain among older adults living with HIV utilizing ecological momentary assessment (EMA). Method: Participants (N=55), ages 49–71, completed seven consecutive days of daily EMA online surveys prior to treatment initiation within a randomized controlled trial. Objective: The objective and purpose of this research was to determine if individuals with type 1 and type 2 diabetes are at risk for developing eating disorders. Currently, there is a gap in literature on the topic of eating disorders and diabetes. Further, there is little research on those with type 2 diabetes and their risk for eating disorder development. Management of diabetes and eating disorder treatment contradict each other. Seeds that Feed (STF) is a mobile food pantry located in Fayetteville, Arkansas. STF receives produce from local farmers to distribute to residents in low-income housing sites throughout Northwest Arkansas. According to Feeding America, food insecurity affected 14.3% Washington County, Arkansas’ population in 2016. Specifically, teachers were asked about their role in the identification process, how effective their school's system is at identifying and treating mental health problems, and their suggestions for improvement. Mental health problems affect a significant portion of today's youth (Merikangas et al., 2010). Mental health problems can negatively impact an adolescent's academic achievement, social relationships, and behavioral functioning (Woodward & Fergusson, 2001). One hundred sixty asexual identified individuals living in the United States were recruited from asexual online communities. The participants completed a comprehensive survey consisting of Zimet et al.’s 1988 Multidimensional Scale of Social Support, Foster’s 2017 Asexual Microaggression Scale, and the Five Factor Wellness Inventory Adult Version Revised (FFWEL-A2) developed by Myers and Sweeney in 2014, as well as 15-item demographic items. Regression models were used to assess relationships among the factors.

The purpose of the study was to examine the construct validity of a newer test used to measure depressive symptoms, the Teate Depression Inventory (TDI). The primary focus of the study was on Middle Eastern/Arab Americans (ME/AA). Previous research has demonstrated that ethnic minority groups may experience and present internalizing disorders, such as depression and anxiety differently than the majority ethnic group, White/Caucasian (W/C) individuals. Further, research suggests that there is a disparity in mental health care among ethnic minority groups, starting with detecting and diagnosing mental health disorders. For this thesis, I interviewed outpatients and clinicians from mental health treatment providers from the DeKalb, Illinois area to investigate the cultural models of mental illness held by both groups. I employed ethnographic methods of semi-structured interviews, and with cognitive tasks (free-listing, and pile sorting) to research similarities and differences between the outpatients’ and mental health treatment providers’ cultural models of ‘mental illness.’ Both mental health clinicians and outpatients have experience with disorders commonly termed ‘mental illness.’ I found differences of experience and identity seemed to more strongly influence one’s cultural model of mental illness than one’s level or type …

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Healthy Incentive for Pre-schools project on health-promoting practices in full-day-care pre-schools 18 months after a training intervention.

The purpose of this experimental study was to investigate mindfulness strategies and their influence on working memory. The potential role of music in facilitating mindfulness practice is explored. Various listening exercises were investigated along with their influence on working memory (i.e. attention control).
