Vaping in the United States is becoming an epidemic especially among young adults and adolescents. As the attention and perception of vaping increases, very little is known about treatment plans and recovery strategies. The Mom television series is the perfect medium to call attention to the idea of women in addiction recovery in pop culture today. As it simultaneously calls upon known stereotypes and misconceptions about addiction, it also subconsciously educates the viewer on facts about what addiction recovery may really look like. People who suffer from bi-polar disorder or other types of depression experience a range of symptoms and reactions due to the disorder that causes not only themselves but their loved ones, to experience negative effects. In the relationship between parent and child, the parent’s mental status is altered, in effect taking a toll on their abilities to care for their children. A Study Of Childhood Anxiety Disorders And Their Impact On The Development Of Anxiety Disorders In Adulthood, Maribeth Burke

This study examines childhood anxiety disorders as well as their impact on the development of anxiety disorders in adulthood. It also compares the effectiveness of different treatment methods and examines common risk factors, such as family history or genetic influence. This study measures the impact on school performance, social relationships, and other components of daily functioning. Literature suggests that anxiety disorders are characterized by excessive anxiety, fear, worry, avoidance, and compulsive rituals. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) provides mental health professionals with key symptoms or observable behaviors for the diagnosis of an anxiety disorder.
