The Middle East’s geopolitical landscape during the Cold War was characterized by ideological and religious differences among regional powers and their conflicting allegiances to the United States and the Soviet Union. Iran and Saudi Arabia held vast energy reserves and shaped regional divisions along religious and geopolitical lines. These divisions carried over to the post-Cold War era, exposing the Middle East to decades-long crises and proxy warfares. Domestic and regional problems are intensified by the interference of external powers, further deteriorating the prospects of peace and security in the region. This study explores the intersection of environmental initiatives and social justice movements in the Philippines, a nation rich in biodiversity but acutely vulnerable to climate change and ecological degradation. Using Laudate Deum as a guiding framework, the research examines how the principles of Immediate Action, Collective Responsibility, and Social Justice can inform collaborative strategies to address these challenges. Through an analysis of case studies, this paper highlights the socio-economic impacts of environmental crises, such as deforestation and pollution, and evaluates initiatives like mangrove reforestation and community-based waste management for their ecological and social benefits. Preventing atrocities has garnered significant scholarly and practitioner attention. In 2014, the UN Office of Genocide Prevention issued a Framework of Analysis of Atrocity Crimes listing 14 risk factors and 143 indicators to support risk analysis and early action. Cognizant that conflicts regularly include deliberate attacks on cultural heritage, the Framework identifies fourteen indicators that pertain to culture and cultural heritage. Five years after the Framework’s release, Simon Adams decried the international community’s ineffectiveness at translating early warning into practical action with respect to cultural heritage. JyM empowers students to create and communicate narratives about the history and current state of human rights based on investigations using primary sources. The Erosion Of Democratic Norms: A Comparative Case Study Of The Rise Of The Authoritarian Right In The United States And Germany, Derya Aydin

Liberal democratic norms have eroded over the 21st century, driven by the rise of right-wing authoritarianism in Western democracies. This study examines the role of anti-immigrant attitudes and shifting social capital structures in fostering right-wing authoritarian values utilizing quantitative data from the United States and Germany. Findings reveal that in the United States, social capital and anti-immigrant attitudes exhibit moderate positive correlations with right-wing authoritarian values, explaining a moderate percentage of the variance. In Germany, the correlations are weaker, with these variables explaining around 5% of the variance. Statistical analyses, including regression and ANOVA, demonstrate that while both independent variables …

The Hindu diaspora in the United States has been one of the most educated and highest earning immigrant groups. They exert considerable influence in the arenas of culture, economy and recently politics. They are attempting to institutionalize Hinduism and “educate” Americans about the religion through creation of lobby groups and the use of social media.
