The regulation or lack thereof of social media has become a hot-button issue in the majority of the Western world. Although the United States has made several attempts to pass widespread regulation of misinformation online, they have seen little success. Contrastingly, the European Union's recently passed Digital Services Act has already seen some success and is shaping up to be an effective piece of legislation.
