The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a heavy toll on businesses and jobs whereas many employees were furloughed and laid off. While the global pandemic had a significant negative impact worldwide, it presented a unique opportunity to revolutionize employment for persons with disabilities. Employers’ willingness to rapidly adapt to the changing work environment by transitioning businesses to remote work and flexible working schedules can facilitate an inclusive work environment for persons with disabilities, especially in communities that also face significant geographical barriers to access employment.

The proportion of women entrepreneurs has increased dramatically over the past decade, not just in the developed world but also in developing countries. This led to a significant increase in the governments’ attention towards designing and implementing female-focused policies to allocate adequate resources for empowering women entrepreneurs in Egypt. This paper examines one main question: How does the Egyptian government empower women entrepreneurs through key policy interventions? This is only possible through testing the proposed research hypotheses and investigating Egypt’s publicized policies and governmental interventions. The socio-political situation has a huge impact on the youth participation in the development agenda, whether locally or internationally. That was obvious during and after the Egyptian revolution, which was led by young people. Youth participation in development field in Egypt has had a significant increase in comparison with before the revolution, both locally — through NGOs and youth-led organizations — and in the international development agenda, through participation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

This study critically presents the various measurements and methodologies of governance and anti-corruption. It also tracks the governance and anti-corruption levels in Egypt and analyses the latest data available until 2015. In doing that, the study does not only refer to the international measurements but also to regional and national ones. These measurements include the World Governance Indicators, the Global Integrity Index, Freedom House, the Global Corruption Barometer, the Corruption Perceptions Index/CPI, Ibrahim Index of African Governance, and the Governance Indexes in health, education, water, and sanitation sectors.

The unique character of the United Nations (UN) imposes strategic challenges on the organization’s leadership and management structures at the national and the international level. In response to these challenges, the UN reform efforts, introduced in 1997, paved the way for the UN system effectiveness, efficiency and coherence. Emerging from the reform, the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) engages various development stakeholders in identifying and achieving national development priorities. An Assessment Of Grass Roots Participation In The Development Of Egypt, Saad Eddin Ibrahim, Amani Kandil, Moheb Zaki, Nagah Hassan

This study aims to examine the extent and effectiveness of grassroots participation in Egyptian private voluntary organizations (PVOs). In addition, it traces the historical development of PVOs in Egypt and the laws that have been governing their activities. The authors deduce from this study that legal restrictions and bureaucratic impediments―not financial constraints―are the main obstacles that limit the activities of PVOs, and come up with specific recommendations to enhance grassroots participation in Egyptian society.

Investors And Workers In The Western Desert Of Egypt: An Exploratory Survey, Naiem A. Sherbiny, Donald P. Cole, Nadia Makary Girgis

The experiences and perceptions of 125 selected investors (small enterpreneurs) and 192 workers in 5 different areas of the Western Desert of Egypt are investigated. Socio-economic characteristcs of the investors and workers are described, and respondents' views of community services and the sources of change and resulting conflicts in the areas are assessed. Reasons underlying investment in the desert area are explored, paying particular attention to choice of activity and location. Investors' perceptions of successes, constraints and prospects of desert investment and workers' perceptions of the potential of their respective sectors of activity are reported.
