The Importance Of Communication Skills To Independent Crop Consultants, Lindsay Overmyer
The Importance Of Communication Skills To Independent Crop Consultants, Lindsay Overmyer
Doctor of Plant Health Program: Dissertations and Student Research
Independent crop consulting companies provide services to farmers by scouting (i.e., collecting field observations of plants and pests) and developing management recommendations for individual fields. In production agriculture, independent crop consultants (ICCs) are professionals who are independent of product sales. They are knowledgeable in many disciplines including plant pathology, entomology, weed science, plant science, economics, water management, and soil science. However, ICCs must also have extensive communication skills to communicate to their audience of field scout(s), farmers, industry professionals, and government officials. The goal of this document is to examine how ICCs use their communication skills and how they can …

Public Relations Of Cal Poly Avocado Rootstock Trial, Angel Daniel Carrillo
Agricultural Education and Communication
Avocados have been one of California’s specialty crops for quite some time now. The industry has been motivating growers to implement the best management practices to ensure stable and increased production as much as they possibly can. California is the leading state in the country for avocado production. In 2019, California alone produced 109 tons of avocados (US Department of Agriculture, 2020). Unfortunately, root rot has made it a challenge to do so.
Root rot is a disease derived from the Phytophthora cinnamomi pathogen. This is an issue for avocado production worldwide. In efforts to find a method of decreasing …

This study used the feral pig management system as a vehicle to examine intractable conflict in socio-ecological systems. The purpose of the study was …
Dissemination Of Communication And Information In Inland Fisheries, Ganesh Chandra
Dissemination Of Communication And Information In Inland Fisheries, Ganesh Chandra
Ganesh Chandra
Flow of communication and information from the research station to the end user is sine qua non for the sustainable production as well as productivity enhancement in inland fisheries and the development of fishers as a whole. The resource poor who are often more in need than others of information on sustainable and low external input technologies is least likely to gain access to the information required. This has been seen particularly in the fisheries sector where the channels of information accessible to the resource poor delivered information on new practices and recommendations as well as the new culture technologies, …
