In the 2019-2020 school year there are a reported 164 African American identifying students currently enrolled at the University of Maine. This represents about 2%of campus, while Black students represent a clear majority of the student athlete community at UMaine. At an institution like UMaine where the only class offered that highlights Black identities is an introduction to African American history course, we are left to wonder if there is a lack of cohesion between obligation towards students and the responsibilities of the university.

Archeota is a platform for SJSU iSchool students to contribute to the archival conversation. It is written BY students, FOR students. It provides substantive content on archival concerns and issues, and promotes career development in the field of archival studies. Archeota upholds the core values of the archival profession. It is a semiannual publication of the Student Chapter of the Society of American Archivists at the San Jose State University School of Information.

On Feb. 27, Sarah Anderson, the Director of Policy at FreedomWorks, spoke to University of Maine students about criminal justice reform in America. Anderson wasinvited to speak by UMaine’s Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) chapter in cooperation with the UMaine College Republicans. FreedomWorks is a group of over six million Americans that promote free markets and individual liberty. The group states that their members “all share three commontraits; a desire for less government oversight, lower taxes and more economic freedom.” FreedomWorks does this by educating citizens “on important issues, or helping [people] contact [their] elected officials," according to the organization’s …

In an unprecedented turn of events, the University of Maine Student Government (UMSG) approved the primary recognition of the UMaine College Republican organization, which has changed leadership. The executive members of the newly reformed UMaine College Republican group are President Anna Zmistowski, a third year political science student, Vice President Caitlyn McKenney, a first year student, and Treasurer Parker Lambert, a fourth year political science and history student.

After acting as the faculty advisor for the group formerly known as the University of Maine College Republicans for approximately a month, Professor of Political Science and Chair of the University of Maine Political Science Department Amy Fried resigned from the position in December of 2019. Fried is an advisor for multiple political groups at UMaine as well as the overseer of the Maine Policy Scholar Program.

The 2019-2020 Annual Report records the activities of the San Jose State University Society of American Archivists Student Chapter (SAASC). This report is submitted to the Student Chapter's parent organization, the Society of American Archivists (SAA).
