Clemson now supports this open sharing of research through its institutional repository, TigerPrints. This repository is highly optimized to attract Google and other search engine crawlers, so it makes your patents and other research highly visible on the open web. That said, nothing tops the intricate search capabilities of the library catalog. Lisa Bodenheimer, Jan Comfort, and Andy Wesolek have leveraged the benefits of both of these systems by incorporating patent records into each. Specifically, presenters outline this project from generating …

The most central and powerful proposition of classical constitutionalism is that the government's role in economic development should be minimal. Essays On Patenting, R & D And Technological Innovation, Na Cheng

Legacy Theses & Dissertations (2009 - 2024)

The innovative activities by firms are considered to be the main driving force of the economic growth. The patent data has been widely used to investigate the relationship between R&D and patents which are taken as an output indicator of the new invention or innovation. On the other hand, empirical evidence supports that teamwork of inventors fosters innovation and technological progress. Motivated by the importance of understanding the patenting behavior of firms and collaboration of inventors, we exploit the continuing applications of patents, examine the R&D and patents relationship, and investigate the effects of teamwork on innovation output.

R.M. Cooper Library at Clemson University is a Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC).  In 2013, we embarked upon a project to add access to Clemson patents to TigerPrints (our Institutional Repository) and to our online catalog.  The steps that we took can be followed by anyone who is interested in showcasing patents associated with their own institution.  I focused on using free, widely-available resources, so there is no need to rely on databases that are only available at a PTRC, although these resources can be very helpful.
