A Confirmatory Factor Analysis Of The Observer Alexithymia Scale In Treatment Seeking Alcohol-Dependent Patients, Fred Thorberg, Ross Young, Karen Sullivan, Michael Lyvers, Cameron Hurst, Reidar Tyssen, Jason Connor, Gerald Feeney

Mike Lyvers

Confirmatory factor analyses evaluated the factorial validity of the Observer Alexithymia Scale (OAS) in an alcohol-dependent sample. Observation was conducted by clinical psychologists. All models examined were rejected, given their poor fit. Given the psychometric limitations of the OAS shown in this study, the OAS may not be the most appropriate measure to use early in treatment among alcohol-dependent individuals.

Impersonal Trust In Versus Dependence On Fda, Amanda C. Meyer Apr 2014

Impersonal Trust In Versus Dependence On Fda, Amanda C. Meyer

Masters Theses

This study emerged following an examination of the work by Susan Shapiro (1987) delineating the construct of impersonal trust, and Shapiro's analysis of trust was applied to an understanding of the impersonal trust relationship which Americans have with Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Few fields outside of organizational studies have undertaken efforts to operationalize impersonal trust and to distinguish it from other related constructs, so this exploratory study assessed whether variables associated with interpersonal trust as outlined by Meyer and Ward (2009) were also associated with impersonal trust in FDA. This study further examined whether measures of impersonal trust could …

Closed-Orbit Dependence On The Field Direction In The Anisotropic Diamagnetic Kepler Problem, A Bruno-Alfonso, Colin Bleasdale, Gustavo Alvarez, R A. Lewis Jan 2014

Closed-Orbit Dependence On The Field Direction In The Anisotropic Diamagnetic Kepler Problem, A Bruno-Alfonso, Colin Bleasdale, Gustavo Alvarez, R A. Lewis

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

The classical orbits of an electron with anisotropic mass interacting with a Coulomb center in the presence of a magnetic field are investigated. It is shown that the shape and duration of the closed orbits depend on the magnetic-field direction. Reasonable agreement with available experimental results for donor-doped silicon samples in a magnetic field is found, when the energy value of the conduction electron is appropriately chosen.

Caffeinated Alcohol Consumption Profiles And Associations With Use Severity And Outcome Expectancies, Cathy Lau-Barraco, Robert J. Milletich, Ashley N. Linden Jan 2014

Caffeinated Alcohol Consumption Profiles And Associations With Use Severity And Outcome Expectancies, Cathy Lau-Barraco, Robert J. Milletich, Ashley N. Linden

Psychology Faculty Publications

Growing evidence suggests that the consumption of caffeinated alcoholic beverages (CAB) may be riskier than alcohol alone. Efforts to identify patterns of CAB use and the correlates of such drinking patterns could further our conceptualization of and intervention for this health issue. Consequently, the current study aimed to (1) identify distinct classes of CAB users, (2) examine differences between classes on measures of alcohol and caffeine problems, and (3) compare distinct classes of CAB users on caffeine and alcohol outcome expectancies. Participants were 583 (31% men) undergraduate students from a psychology research pool. Latent profile analysis models were derived using …
