To facilitate successful vocational rehabilitation services to clients it is helpful to make accurate diagnosis as to which clients will have the best chances of success. The present paper examines the locus of control construct as a predictor of rehabilitation potential in hearing-impaired individuals. Hearing-impaired individuals were found to have relatively high external orientations when compared to normally hearing individuals. It is suggested that unique developmental processes in the hearing-impaired may lead to the formation of external orientations.
