A Comparison Of Experiential And Classroom Learning Models In Teaching Health Problems Of The Poor, Gerald F. Braza
Thesis, Dissertations, Student Creative Activity, and Scholarship
The general problem was to assess differences, if any, in selected areas of knowledge, attitudes and behavior among students exposed to a classroom model with students exposed to an experiential (community live-in} model in learning about health problems of the poor. Specific problems included: the selection of instruments, the development of methods and materials for teaching the classroom and experiential groups, and the measurement of students' knowledge, attitudes, and behavior related to the poor and their health problems.

Effects Of State And Federal Aid To Education, Taxes And Other Socio-Economic Factors On Certain Housing Values In Nebraska, Wallace W. Decatur
Student Work
There have been many studies, papers, articles, and theories which attempt to explain the effect of taxation on real estate values. Occasionally, someone will attempt to correlate some new, here-to-fore unrelated, factor to real estate values. The new factors are often utilized alone or in conjunction with previous study.

Effects Of Coeducation On Occupational, Educational And Social Aspirations Of Adolescent Girls, Mary Ellen Lynch
Effects Of Coeducation On Occupational, Educational And Social Aspirations Of Adolescent Girls, Mary Ellen Lynch
Student Work
The sexual composition of the high school environment may have a significant effect on the educational and occupational aspirations of adolescent girls. Although the coeducational environment may provide adolescent girls with more opportunities for social encounters and development of social skills, it may not facilitate the maintenance of high educational and occupational aspirations among them.
On the other hand, the emphasis in the same-sex all-girl high school may be academic rather than social. These girls are subject to a minimal amount of feminine-role conflict because they are not in direct competition with males. Same-sex peer influence may place emphasis on …

Traits Attributed To Female Somatotypes, Edward C. Hill
Student Work
The subject of female somatotypes Is one which has been largely neglected. No studies to date have used the female somatotypes. This study of college students measured character traits attributed to the three different female somatotype silhouettes; endomorph, mesomorph, ectomorph. Sixty undergraduate students were asked to rate the three female somatotype silhouettes on a list of twentyfour bi-polar adjective scales. In only one case did males and females disagree significantly on what trait should be assigned to a particular body type. The subjects rated the three silhouettes differently on fourteen of the twenty-four adjectival scales. In most cases the male …

Research in general and inductive research in particular often begins from an unfocused curiosity. From this perplexity, emerges the problem of research, the collecting of relevant data, and the drawing of theoretical inferences from said data. The current research enterprise includes these major problems but is, in many respects, different. That is to say, the execution is different from that which is found in "traditional patterns of investigation."

The history of the Sanitary Improvement District (SID) in Nebraska is closely tied to the history of urban development in the Omaha Metropolitan Area. The end of World War II freed the pent-up demand for new dwelling units in Nebraska as well as in the rest of the nation. Omaha's stock of platted lots was rapidly used up in the late 40's and pressures were great for opening up new areas. To meet the demand, new dwellings began to spring up on the fringes of the City, but altogether too many of these were served only by wells and septic …

This publication describes over 100 activity-oriented programs in which students learn through a combination of direct experience and associated instruction or reflection. Students are involved in cross-age tutoring, community services, on-the-job work experiences, foreign or domestic travel with an organized group, political campaigns, field trips, art show-productions, movie making, and still photography. Information was gathered in the spring of 1975 when the Student Community Involvement Project of the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota Association of Secondary School Principals sent out a questionnaire to all secondary schools in the state to determine how many of them had adopted action learning. …
