History And Acculturation Of The Dakota Indians, James L. Satterlee Dr.

Agricultural Experiment Station Rural Sociology Pamphlets (1940-1977)

Since the first printing of a publication in 1956 entitled Acculturation of the Dakota Indians, a steady demand has been made upon the Department of Rural Sociology for copies. Since the original, two more printings have taken place (1968 and 1970) so as to meet demands of the public for this information. In the last two years, with increased interest in the Indian situation in South Dakota, students, agency officials and the public in general have indicated a need for more information pertaining to the culture of the Dakota people prior to white contact and the assimilation process. American Labor Unions: Structure, Conduct, Performance, Lyle Adrian Johnson Jan 1974

American Labor Unions: Structure, Conduct, Performance, Lyle Adrian Johnson

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Given some specific assumptions, theories have provided specific conclusion concerning unions. This type of theoretical framework, however, provides for a ''narrow" discussion of union activities. General textbooks written about labor unions supply an opposite approach by providing much material dealing with union relationships. A more comprehensive approach, however, may be developed through an analysis of labor unions with industrial organization theories. This type of analysis allows one to see both the forest and the trees. The specific objectives of this research paper are to study: 1. union organizations and their operations 2. antitrust policy toward union structure 3. strike costs …

The completion date is projected for the summer of 1975. This planned industrial facility for a relatively rural area provided an opportunity to study the effects of rural industrialization. This phase of the total research project ascertained the …

A study of the 1970 South Dakota population was conducted to determine: (1) the extent of disadvantagement by magnitude and residence; (2) the association between the extent of disadvantagement and selected socio-economic factors; and (3) the extent to which factors explaining disadvantagement also served to predict migration based on the net migration experiences of South Dakota counties during 1960 to 1970. The county was selected as the unit of analysis. Selected data from the census were aggregated and tabulated. The magnitude of family and unrelated individual disadvantagement in South Dakota during 1970 was identified for rural farm, rural non-farm, and …
