Attitudes Of Returning Peace Corps Volunteers Concerning Impact Of Peace Corps Interlude On Subsequent Academic Work, Mary Abrams, Terrence Cullinan

Higher Education

A survey was undertaken in the summer of 1969, as part of the Interlude Research Program, among young people who had recently concluded service as Peace Corps Volunteers. The study's objectives were to (a) assess the impact of the Peace Corps interlude on subsequent formal education, (b) obtain respondent opinions on the educational value of the Peace Corps interlude itself, and (c) examine what steps, if any, the formal education system in the United States had taken toward :incorporating such an experience in formal academic programs.

The United States during the 20th century has been characterized by an ever increasing amount of Federal responsibility and intervention in effecting change in the lives of the local citizenery. This Federal intervention and responsibility takes many varied forms; it is the aim of this research to deal with only one of these forms - the Civil Works Program of the United States Army Corps of Engineers as it relates to water resources development.

Sociological research in the areas of occupational preference and mobility, together with related work in the sociology of education has been concerned almost entirely with males. An all but exclusive preoccupation with the male worker is somewhat surprising considering the fact that census data reveal, an increasing proportion of women in paid employment during the last sixty years.1 An examination of labor statistics by Bossi,2 disclosed that between 1950 and I960, women accounted for 65 per cent of the increase in the labor force. An Input Output Study For The Omaha Smsa, J. D. Stolen, P. C. Chang

This study is an extension and refinement of a previous report on the Omaha Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area (SMSA) by Perry P. Chang. The present study makes three major changes in Chang's report, in that it obtains output and value added of industries in the Omaha area, exports and imports of the industries, certain income multipliers, forecasts of output in the Omaha area. for 1975 and 1990, and compares the three results with Chang's.
