The Federal Reserve System, a little over fifty years old, is now the dominant force in the monetary policy of our nation's economy. Through its use of the reserve requirements, discount rate and other methods, the Federal Reserve System can greatly control the mood and pace of the economy. The 'Fed', as the system is called, has over 6,750 member banks, and has over eighty-five percent of the nation's demand deposits in its vaults. Constitutional Rights And The Mormon Appeals For National Redress Of The Missouri Grievances, Lynn D. Stewart

This study attempts to trace the efforts of the Mormon people to obtain redress from the national government for the losses of life and property which they had suffered and the hardships which they had endured while residing in the state of Missouri during the 1830's. The Mormon appeals to Congress and the President are considered and an evaluation is made of the Mormon view of the national government's responsibility for the protection of individual rights.
