For a number of years researchers have been interested in studying adolescents' aspirations. Some studies have been made to show the relationship between adolescents' aspirations and the social status of their families; others have been more concerned with the effect of intelligence upon aspirations, still others with the combined effect of intelligence and social status. More recently, Sociologists have focused upon the effects of the social system of the school as they relate to high school students' aspirations.
