Much has been written on the subject of supervision and the improvement of teaching. It is the general opinion of authors on this subject that it is a much better procedure to retain the services of competent teachers over long tenure than to follow any of the uneconomical plans of adapting large numbers of new teachers to the task of establishing the necessary teacher-pupil contacts for successful learning.
