Grade retention, otherwise known as “failing” or “being held back”, is a common practice for schools when they feel a student is not performing at or meeting school standards. While grade retention is a popular practice, very little research supports the use of it as an effective intervention over other interventions (Jimerson, 2001). This research effort intends on identifying the knowledge, skills, abilities necessary for cost analysts to be effective decision support members. The purpose of this research is to determine what levels of education, training, and knowledge are needed by cost analysts in the current career field and in the foreseeable future. It also assesses whether cost analysts associate the levels of knowledge, skills, and abilities as requirements in fulfilling cost analyst duties. This research will examine the impact of training in the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS), a suicide assessment and intervention protocol, on the knowledge, perceived skills, and confidence for providers at three different levels of training. The trainee groups will include Qualified Mental Health Professionals (County),1 master’s prepared third-year doctoral students on the Behavioral Health Consultation Crisis team (BHCC), and first-year psychology trainees (First-years). The three levels of participants were asked to complete a pre-test prior to and post-test immediately following their respective CAMS training. The present study examined three dimensions of physician characteristics and behaviors (knowledge, communication, and compassion) to better understand how patients perceive physicians and overall quality of care. This mixed-methods approach utilized both close- and open-ended survey questions to assess participants’ relationship with their physicians. In addition, participants wrote stories to describe best and worst experiences with physicians. Giving participants the opportunity to write stories in their own words allowed for a more nuanced understanding of the complexity of patients’ experiences, physician characteristics, and perceptions of overall quality of care. Despite Nigeria's abundance of human and natural resources, after 57 years of independence, most Nigerians live in absolute poverty. The purpose of this quantitative study was to determine the extent to which the Nigerian leadership exercised leadership capability. The primary research question investigated leadership actions that facilitated or undermined development and good governance objectives. This study adopted critical thinking leadership framework, as developed by the author.
