Opting Out Of Opting In: Switching Our Profile Workflow To Include Every University Faculty Member, Kyle A. Johnson, Ashley Sergiadis

Starting this semester, Charles C. Sherrod Library at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) began shifting our SelectedWorks service model from an opt-in (we create profiles for faculty who send us their CV) process to a quicker and easier opt-out (we create profiles for all faculty) model. Our lightning talk will provide an overview of this opt-out model and how we laid the groundwork for its success. We started by engendering support amongst the Deans, Faculty Senate, and University Research Council, detailing the benefits of a university-wide profile service and assuaging any fears or concerns that an opt-out model might generate …

Opening A Communication Channel With The Etd Librarian, Kelley Flannery Rowan

This presentation will share the results of a new initiative developed by the ETD Librarian at Florida International University (FIU) to develop a personal connection between students and the ETD Librarian. The goal is threefold; to provide a personal contact and open communication channel within the library to whom students can address publishing best practices and concerns with, to better inform and engage students in the metadata process of submitting theses and dissertations, and to spur the growth of knowledge and usage of ORCID. From Digital Commons To Alma/Primo: A Systems Interoperability Project, Sara Hoover, Jolinda L. Thompson

Background: In 2018 our library migrated to Ex Libris’s Alma and its discovery service Primo. Alma allows content from OAI-PMH compliant archives to be loaded to Primo for discovery. Our library has a Digital Commons institutional repository (IR) system and librarians were eager to explore including IR content in Primo. Post-migration a feed was established between the IR and Primo, but there were issues with adding all IR content and the feed was removed. Consequently, we wanted to explore alternatives that would allow for the integration of more selective IR content.
