Managing Disasters In University Libraries In South East Nigeria: Preventive, Technological And Coping Measures, Richard N. C. Ugwuanyi Dr., Mercy Ebere Ugwu, Kelechi Chukwunonso Ezema

Abstract

This study examined the types of disasters that occur in university libraries and the extent of application of preventive, technological and coping measures in managing these disasters. The study adopted descriptive survey design and the major instrument for data collection was questionnaire. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The results showed that university libraries in South East, Nigeria had experienced disasters which resulted in adoption of some preventive measures. It was however found that no significant technological and coping measures were applied in managing disasters in the university libraries. The study recommended that policy framework or …
