Racial and ethnic socialization is the way in which parents teach their children about race and ethnicity and it occurs in all families in varying forms. Unlike many white families, those of racial minorities tend to take an approach that makes their children aware of their race and its social implications. The present research project investigated the racial-ethnic socialization methods of Americans from varying racial and ethnic backgrounds to identify similarities and differences. This research analyzed the surveys of 52 parents and 32 nonparents in order to examine generational similarities and differences of race talk. Parents of color were more …

This study seeks to understand the causes and implications of the abundance of adolescent pregnancy in the region known as the Mississippi Delta, where teenage childbearing is among the highest in the nation. To do so, this study reports and analyzes twelve interviews with young, African American, single mothers conducted by the author in the summer of 2019. This study relies on a narrative approach to research and analysis and employs the theoretical framework of Afrocentrism. This thesis is a fictional novel which explores themes of morality and tragedy within the society of a crime-and-murder-ridden city called Spekender. The mayor, Ev Edison, has become a disgraced recluse as a result of the tragic deaths of his wife and unborn child a year and a half prior to when the story takes place. His remaining children (three boys and a girl named Nimble) are left to navigate their disaster-torn worlds in isolation from their father and from each other. Thousands of Americans carry debt, whether it be a mortgage, student loans, or auto loans. The average American graduates with at least $35,000 in debt (Kurt, 2019). Many Americans are not confident in their financial capabilities (Godsted & McCormick, 2007). La diversification des configurations familiales continue à susciter de vifs débats en France, où il existe encore une sorte d’intolérance à l’égard de ceux qui sortent du modèle « traditionnel » de la famille. Ces dernières années, le développement des techniques de procréation médicalement assistée (PMA) est devenu le sujet d’une forte controverse.
