The Impact Of Messaging Authenticity On Peer Relationship Satisfaction Of Senior High School Students, Josiah Kurt B. Aviso, John Patrick B. Delos Reyes, Jehosua Albert A. Torres

Previous research has explored the effects of social media use (SMU) on business trust, socialization, and negative youth experiences. Tackling a research gap, this research explored messaging app authenticity’s effect on youth peer relationship satisfaction via a survey of 92 students from De La Salle University (DLSU) Senior High School (SHS) in Academic Year (A.Y.) 2021-2022. Concurrent triangulation with the Authenticity-Satisfaction framework showed strong positive correlations between authenticity and satisfaction across attributes except helpfulness, with openness and relationship affirmation as key in aiding relationship satisfaction, affirmation, and companionship. Facebook is ever-present in the lives of adolescents as a dominant platform used for social interactions. Undoubtedly, adolescents nowadays revolve their lives around the internet resulting in their susceptibility to anxiety disorders. With this, the number of adolescents using Facebook’s features, along with the number of adolescents experiencing anxiety symptoms are vividly rising. This study assesses Facebook features, including messenger, newsfeed, and post engagements with its relation to anxiety.
