Academic debate offers many positive benefits to both the individual and society. By examining both the relevant literature and survey and personal interviews research a multi-perceptual vision of what academic dose for both the individual and society developed. The benefits of the activity are increased critical thinking skills, improved oral and written communication skills, research experience, information processing and exposure to many different fields of study. The primary research discussed here in supports these conclusions. These skills prepare individuals to deal with the issues facing society and make them better citizens of the nation.
