With the great increase in the number of violent crimes committed by juveniles, the rights of their victims are greatly overlooked by a. judicial system which does not meet the changing needs of society. Violent juvenile crime has transformed completely over the years in frequency. in the types of acts committed, and in the profiles of the perpetrators. Great changes in federal and state laws concerning the treatment of such violent youths are taking place; however, nothing is currently being done to ensure the rights of the victims of juveniles. These aspects of the judicial system are explored.

Assessing The Need For A Formal Training Program Concerning Shoplifter Apprehension, April Lynn Hicks

The present study was conducted to determine if supervisors and subordinates perceived a need for a formal training program on apprehending shoplifters. The study also determined whether supervisors perceived a greater or lesser need for a formal training program than did subordinates. Twenty supervisors and 70 subordinates from four retail locations were administered a Shoplifting Awareness Survey. It was found that both supervisors and subordinates perceived a need for a formal training program. The data revealed that supervisors perceived the need for a training program to be as strong as the need perceived by subordinates. Subordinates overwhelmingly indicated that they …

Crack made its debut in the United States during the late 1980's. No one thought about the enormous impact that one illegal drug could have, but crack has dramatically increased the number of drug addictions in this country. Even more traumatic is that there are many children suffering today from the effects of the crack that their mothers used while pregnant. This study investigated patient expectations by distributing surveys to family physicians and patients of family physicians. Both subject groups were given the same survey with the exception of demographic questions. Physicians were instructed. to answer the items as they felt their patients would, while the patients were instructed to answer the items with regard to family physicians in general. Comparisons were made between the patients' and physicians' responses and between the responses of demographic groups within the patient sample.
