The present study utilized a model apartment as a transitional facility in conjunction with exposure-sampling to increase the movement of care home residents to independent living. A model apartment is oen set up with all items necessary for everyday living, including dishes, pots and pans, bedding, cleaning articles, etc., which serves as an example of what the client might live in were he to move to his own apartment.
