An Assessment Of Waste Management Activities Of Plateau Environmental Protection And Sanitation Agency, N L. Binbol Phd, F Ogboji, A A. Lahor

The research examined the performance of Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) as a waste management agency on the Jos Plateau. The research made use of primary data in the form of structured questionnaires to elucidate required information from respondents. Four wards Naraguta B, Jenta Adamu, Jenta Apata and Tudun Wada Kabong were used as sampling points. The research made used of both descriptive and inferential statistical techniques for data analysis. Results obtain shows that 88% of wastes generated were domestic in nature and that the commonest methods of refuse disposals are the open space (33%) and back yard …

The issue Community Driven Development is presented as tool for effective community development at the grassroots in Kwara State. This paper draws on field research on conservation based field observation in which the authors had to visit some of the project locations to ascertain the availability of the project. Apart from his, the study relies heavily on secondary data obtained from the Kwara State Community Based Poverty Reduction Project’s publications and the recently inaugurated Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency. Most academic disciplines have their symbolic and material ‘homes’ in the metropolitan centres of the United States of America (USA) and the United Kingdom (UK). Consequently researchers working in Aotearoa/NZ face a choice as to the kinds of relations they develop with these metropolitan centres. We argue that researchers tend to adopt three particular modes of response: franchise, margin and locale. Leadership behavior significantly influences the performance of companies and the motivation of people. However, much of our knowledge regarding the characteristics of effective leaders is based on research carried out in Western countries. To redress this imbalance, the Global Leadership and Organizational Behavior Effectiveness (GLOBE) Research Program was set up in the early 1990s to investigate leadership behaviors in over 60 countries around the world, including Malaysia. Much cross-cultural research focuses on identifying differences between cultures. In this paper a discussion is presented for the inclusion of the valuing of 'differences' between people as the cornerstone of hospitality management education curricula using a three-pronged approach. The models advocated for achieving this aim are 'identity development' (Myers, 1991), Action Learning (Revans, 1969) and Awareness and Competence (Howells, 1982). It is argued that the nature of the hospitality industry and the global environment which it serves demands such educational processes if self-aware, critical and ethical managers are to be developed.
