Twenty years ago a horrific terrorist attack occurred in the United States. For Generation Z, our knowledge of 9/11 is second hand, from history lessons in High School to stories from our family and friends to mentions of it in today’s political environment. As we reflect on that day twenty years later, we hope to continue to inform future generations. To do this, we focus on what happened on September 11, 2001, the actions taken after the attack, and the lasting effects of 9/11.

Small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) depend on a large measure on commercial banks for external capital, and US SMEs are increasingly experiencing bank credit constraints and resorting to costly alternatives. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of lender organizational complexity on SME financing shortfalls. In particular, it examines the credit shortage effects associated with the SME's reliance on bank holding company (BHC) owned, as opposed to independent, lenders.

The use of executive orders allows a President to quickly enforce new legislation. This power is a means to enable a President to promote their agenda without the need for congressional approval. In his first month, Joe Biden has used executive orders much more so than his recent predecessors. He has used this power to overturn policies by the Trump administration and has added a number of his own initiatives as well. Impeachment is a way to ensure federal officers are upholding the core values of the United States. Although impeachment does not happen often, it is an important part of American democracy. While only one impeachment occurred in the first 200 years of the nation’s history, three more have occurred in the last 22 years with Donald Trump becoming the first president to be impeached twice. Since impeachment is a rarely utilized process there is much to be learned and considered during this experience.
