This paper explains a research proposal on the relationship between demographic variables and life satisfaction of college students. The variables being measured are gender, race, socioeconomic class, and college majors. A literature review was conducted to examine previous research on these variables in relation to life satisfaction. A relationship between these variables was found throughout the research studies that were analyzed. The proposed methodology for this research is a survey distributed to students at Lindenwood University. The survey will consist of four demographic questions as well as the Riverside Life Satisfaction Scale (Margolis et al., 2019) for participants to complete. …

Previous research reveals that transgender individuals suffer with greater mental health concerns than cisgender individuals (Borgogna, McDermott, Aita, & Kridel, 2018). Moreover, transgender and gender nonconforming students are experiencing more difficultly in college than their cisgender peers. The data show that transgender students experience greater levels of trauma, stressors in life, harassment, and discrimination (Greathouse et al., 2018; James et al., 2016; Swanbrow Becker et al., 2017). Further, James et al., (2016) found that the climate on campus has led some transgender students to drop out of their higher education institute. This study looks specifically at college students’ intimate relationships and if there are correlations regarding their parents’ marital status and/or perceived happiness of their parents’ marriage and the participants’ intimate relationships. The findings reported in the literature are mixed as to whether parents’ marital status is an indicator for their offspring’s intimate relationships. The purpose of this study was to determine if there is a lack of parking at Lindenwood University (LU), and if that problem could be solved if more students who currently drive to class would walk instead. Research shows that college students in America are not getting enough exercise, and that walking has many health benefits. Data were collected using a survey with 40 LU students. Data were also collected through observations of the parking lots on campus. A students’ grade point average has a huge impact on the life of a student. This study proved that the amount of hours worked is not reflective of the students’ grade point average which proved our hypothesis incorrect. Past studies have shown varied results on grade point average and the amount of hours a student works. Individual differences may be a determining factor in considering how the individual balances work and school. There were sixty participates in this study from Lindenwood University. The results of this study showed a negative correlation of -.043 between the two variables.

This study sought to show relationships between anti- and pro-smoking advertisement campaigns and the prevalence of smoking among college students. A total of 102 undergraduate students from Lindenwood University participated in the survey, which contained questions regarding family, friends, personal non-smoking and smoking habits, and the number and type of anti- and pro-smoking ads viewed. The researchers obtained informed consent, distributed the survey, and debriefed each participant after completion of the survey. The statistical analysis of the data did not show any relationships between exposure to ads and the prevalence of smoking. However, exposure to pro-smoking advertisements did affect brand …

Students that work while in school have higher grade point averages than students who do not work. The number of students that work while in college has increased over the years. In this study 28 participants were asked to full out a ten question survey that pertaining to the number of hours they worked and their academic performance. Then the results were compared to determine the correlation between the student grade point average and the number of hours they worked. This study is designed to show a relationship between self-esteem and grade point average (GPA) among college students. Undergraduate college students from Lindenwood University participated in this study. The survey used in this study was designed by J.J. Messina (1999) containing questions a subject’s family, personal, social, and educational life. The students were asked if they would like to participate in a survey randomly. Upon completion of the survey and informed consent they received a feedback letter. The data I collected showed a weak relationship, however I believe it was due to the fact I only surveyed 25 subjects.

The study examined the possible relationship between self-esteem and grade point average (GPA) held by college students. For my experiment, I studied the difference between students who are involved in a Greek organization compared to those who are not. Forty undergraduate students from Lindenwood University were used. They filled out a survey that I have prepared about Alcohol Consumption, asking a variety of questions such as, how many nights a week they go out, how much money they spend on an average week on alcohol, and where they go when they want to go drink.
