Death and bereavement are a sad part of human existence; a child’s death, however, could be incredibly isolating, debilitating, and terrifying for parents. Art therapy has proven helpful in dealing with several challenges like depression, stress, and post-traumatic stress disorder (Hass-Cohen et al., 2018; Kalmanowitz & Ho, 2017; Peterson & Goldber, 2016). However, no studies to date show the impact of art therapy as an intervention with bereaved parents. The Relationship Between Marital Satisfaction And Caregiver Burden In Parents Who Care For Adult Children With Development Disabilities, Jujuane M. Easter

This study examines the relationship between marital satisfaction and caregiver burden in parents of individuals with mental disabilities. Eighteen couples (18 women and 18 men) completed a demographic questionnaire, the Index of Marital Satisfaction (IMS), and the Caregiver's Burden Scale (CBS). It was hypothesized that there would be a negative correlation between marital satisfaction and caregiver burden. The correlations between the IMS scale and CBS scale were calculated for men and women separately. Findings indicate that the correlation for the IMS scale with the CBS scale for men was not statistically significant (.246). Also, the correlation for the IMS scale …

The purpose of this survey was to determine if graduates believed that the counseling services they received at Belleville Area College contributed to their academic success . A survey was conducted utilizing 181 graduates (111 females and 70 males) from a May 1996 graduate class of 696 students . Academic success is defined as the completion of a degree . Forty clients and forty therapists, both male and female, from varying economic and educational backgrounds completed a one- page self-report attitudinal survey regarding the place of religion and spirituality in their life and therapeutic sessions. This study examined if there is any relationship between a counselor's personality, as measured by the Myers-Briggs Type indicator (MBTI), and the counselor's self-reported overall level of directiveness in counseling. A random sample of one-third of all of the Licensed Professional Counselors in the state of Missouri (N = 440) were mailed a 2 packet containing the MBTI Form G, a demographic form, and a Likert-type scale to indicate overall level of directiveness in counseling. This study examines the value differences and similarities between Native American Indians and non-native American graduate students who have had multi cultural training. The Rokeach Value Survey, which ranks 18 Terminal values and 18 Instrumental values, was administered to 22 non- Native American students enrolled in a counseling program at Lindenwood College in St. Louis, Mo. and 21 Native American Indians who are studying at Haskell College for Indians in Lawrence, Kansas. The author and a female client use dreams as the vehicle in counseling, following theoretical and practical considerations outlined by C.G. Jung. Included are discussions of theory, the function of dreams and dream symbols, selected dreams, and the content of some of the sessions. The author and the client met for one hour per week over a period of three months for a total of twelve sessions. Both recorded their impressions and experiences in journals during this period. This monograph addresses some of the specific problems related to counseling parents of defective newborns. It describes the experience of the writer over a five year period, 1972- 1977, in the neonatal unit of Goergetown University Hospital , Washington, D.C. During this period approximately two hundred fifty parents of defective newborns and may times that number of parent of children with lesser problems, utilized the hospital's services. My direct counseling experience was with thirty of these parents during the process of making the very difficult decisions about continuing support care for their critically ill infants.
